Just back from our 3rd trip to Pristava Lepena. 1st was 2003, 2nd 2006 and now 2009. As always the service was fantastic and the scenery breathtaking.
100% of the weekday guests were repeat visitors which gives you an indication of what the management achieve. Silvia and Milan's hospitality is unique. They are both multi-lingual and have an interesting and varied work experience between them which include translating for the UN and civil engineering.
Pristava Lepena offers riding lessons, a swimming pool, tennis, archery, hot tub, sauna, a bar and a really good restaurant. Since our previous visit the restaurant has a new chef manager and an entirely new and massively improved menu. The chap at the helm is Dennis...he speaks exceptionally good English but is also fluent in Slovenian, Croation, German, Italian and Portugeuse - plus he speaks 'a little' French. The food was very tasty and very classy - zelo dober!
By UK standards the pricing is very good (the website will have up to date info) and the entire crew will do whatever they can to make every guests stay as enjoyable as possible. Whether you want to learn to ride, partake in some extreme sports on the nearby Soca river or (like us) hike a little and relax a lot your needs will be catered for.
I can also recommend a local taxi / tour chap called Harij (pronounced Harry) - Silvia or Milan at Pristava Lepena can give you his details should you wish to book. We arranged taxis to and from Brnik airport (near Ljubljana the capital) about a 2 hour drive away, but he will also collect from Trieste, Klagenfurt or Jesenice (or anywhere else vaguely local) if more convenient.
The local area is very beautiful. Mountains, the Soca, hardly any people and absolutely stunning scenery in every direction. I can't imagine never revisiting the Soca valley again and wouldn't stay anywhere else.
