“Rare luxury in Bled Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

Although Bled is a popular tourist destination, luxurious and modern rooms are few and far between. Vila Alice is a beautifully presented house, where it is evident throughout every room in the property that a great deal of care and attention has been put into every detail.
The staff are young, speak multiple languages to a high standard, and were always cheerful and helpful. On arrival we were greeted with a tour of the property and a complimentary blueberry schnapps (homemade) which was a lovely touch.
Our room ('Fire') was clean and beautifully designed, stretching the full length of the main building, with a large balcony at the front, and a smaller terrace at the back of the building (with stunning views of the Julien Alps).
Other reviewers have noted a charge for the wifi, however we were given an access code for the duration of our stay at no extra cost, and the wifi signal was strong throughout the building. The management team have clearly listened and responded positively to this previous feedback.
We did not have the opportunity to try out any of the little luxuries advertised in the Vila brochure (eg. in-room massage, bicycle hire etc.), however these looked tempting.
On arrival we found fruit (dates) and water in our room, and on our last morning the owner had prepared a traditional Slovenian cream-cheese and herb bread for us to take with us to the airport.
As other reviewers have pointed out, it is well under 5mins walk to the lake shore, and the restaurants and bars in the town. There is no restaurant on site, however the staff recommended two excellent Slovenian/European restaurants that both had delicious food, a great atmosphere and service. They were also really keen to help us make plans to see all the sights and sample the highlights of Bled, including the best lace to try the famous Cream Cake!
Breakfast is basic, however we expected this based on other reviews, and it was not an issue for us.
All in all, Vila Alice is a true home away from home - inviting, luxurious and well worth the price in our opinion.

Room Tip: Note that the balconies at the front and rear of the main building are not exclusively for use by...

This B & B is in a great location with a just a few minutes walk to Lake Bled. The rooms and common areas were comfortable and clean, and the setting with the beautiful backyard garden was a nice bonus. Overall this inn was quite nice, but where they were seriously lacking was customer service. Most of the employees were courteous and as accommodating as they could be, but you got the constant feeling that the guests were working around management's needs instead of the other way around. Stingy is a good way to put it. What you read in other reviews is true. They nickel and dime you for everything which gets annoying especially when the nightly rate wasn't exactly cheap. Charging to use the Jacuzzi, I've never heard of such a thing. Our breakfast was included in the rate, but if you have to pay extra, I would skip it. The selection was not good; fresh selections were very limited - mostly prepackaged items, and the bakery items were stale. If you wanted something other than what was on the buffet (even though it was advertised on the menu), it was an additional charge. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but I do have a problem when they don't have the ingredients to make what is on the menu, but they are still willing to charge you for it. It was very awkward. Also breakfast did not start until 8am which is not very convenient when you are trying to make the most of your day light hours to explore the park.

Easy to find B and B one street behind the lake. Very nicely furnished in a modern style. Our room was large and on the top floor. Stunning views through Velux windows.

All the staff were extremely helpful. We sent out laundry (unusual for us) as we were on a two week tour which was returned ironed and folded for Euro15! a bargain in any country!

My three friends and I stayed here for three nights in August - we had previously stayed in what we considered to be outstanding accommodation elsewhere in Bled so we were making lots of comparisons ! However that said you could not fault the attention to detail of our two double rooms ( which contrary to another reviewer had huge fluffy white towels and air conditioning ) and excellent bathroom suite .The garden and conservatory areas of the main villa are also absolutely gorgeous and we wished we could have made use of them more if the weather had not decided to turn to rain during two days of our stay !The breakfast was beautifully presented ... But less varried than we encountered elsewhere in Bled or Ljubliana . The breakfast staff particularly one girl (whose name we didn't catch )was exceptionally helpful and did everything she could with a huge smile ( understanding Irish accents not always easy ). So a lovely place to stay for your time in Bled but areas for improvement I would suggest would be -free wifi - as four girls wishing to check in with home / check weather / plan routes in this smart phone climate this seemed a big oversight to charge €5 for a days wifi ( when you are out and about all day ?) True most major cafes and restaurants had wifi but we as a party, felt free wifi should have been part of package . Also our accommodation was much more expensive then elsewhere so it was difficult to see where the added benefits were for this accommodation as anything else in addition to the rooms eg bicycles, jacuzzi, tea and coffee cost extra . We did however get water and local biscuits left in our room which was a lovely touch . .The staff were all lovely and engaging and this is still an excellent place to stay but the standard is set very high in Bleds smaller establishments !

We regretted booking there for such a long stay. The place is very overpriced. "Stingy" describes the attitude, reflected in the very basic breakfast buffet, their owner's lack of welcoming, non-absorbant, postage-stamp-sized towels and missing amenities such as soap and coffee in the room. Their rooms are advertised as having air conditioning. We booked a "superior" room which had no air conditioning in the bedroom. wi-fi is available for an additional charge of 5 € per day. The owner explained this was to cover the installation expenses! We arrived in the morning and were told by the owner to return in the afternoon to check in, neglecting to mention that the reception is only staffed at certain hours! We did not experience “excellent” services, quite the opposite. When we discussed our dissatisfaction with the owner, she took notes, but did not rectify the missing amenities. Under duress, she gave us two days of complimentary wi-fi during our six day stay. The energy she projected was irritation.
Vila Alice looks good. It is an old building with very steep stairs which was remodeled four years ago. Alen, one of the staff members was very helpful in offering tips for touring local sites. The breakfast staff were friendly. The location is close to the lakefront without a view of the lake. I would recommend staying on the lakefront.

We had an overnight stay at the hotel and we really enjoyed the luxurious setting. Our room had a balcony and the room was beautiful and tastefully decorated. Staff were very helpful and friendly. My only gripe is the value for money of the hotel - you certainly pay for the ambience but I felt that it was overpriced having just stayed at a business hotel in Kranj. You also have to pay extra for wifi internet access!

Room Tip: Balcony view is a nice extra but the road noise makes it difficult to sleep if balcony doors are lef...
