“Good for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

Very good location, easy to get to from airport by bus and walkable from central station. Close to supermarkets, shops, the old town, everything really.

The hostel is basic, the staff are nice but it's not a place to go of you like hostels which organise nights out/events etc. Rooms are ok but you can escape the noise of the busy street if that's done thing that bothers you.

Showers are great, lots of hot water.

Breakfast is 5pln for cereal, breads, meat, cheese and tea/coffee.

Altogether a good stay for a very cheap price

To be honest rooms and service are OK, but if you want to simply book a night in here and just don't worry about your trip anymore, this is the wrong place and you should stay away from it.
I've been here once and I was lucky then, because their booking software had crashed so my reservation was invalid, but they've got some beds available and they simply put me into another room and everything was fine.
I've booked a bed one more time for another trip and 2 days before my stay they called me to tell me that their software had crashed and my reservation was unnoticedly overwrote at someone's book and my reservation is invalid, beacuase they have no beds left and this is the best way to solve this problem.
Well let me tell you something, if you're not able to buy some efficient booking software, maybe paper notebook and a pen would be a solution for you and it wouldn't take you more than week to find out and tell 2 days before sommeone's arriving, there's a collision. How about that?
If you want to avoid problems with your trip at the beginning, just stay away from here.

Room Tip: Stay away!

Good location, very cheap, few steps away from nice coffee shops and etc.
Would recommend the place for budget travelers.
However the beds are not the best, old bed-sheets, but for the price it's ok. I had no idea there was also breakfast at the hostel, although I stayed there 3 days. That's a good thing.
The city itself is very warm and nice, would go there again for sure.

There is a noisy street and the matress was not in the best condition, but despite of this having a bed and shower for €6 plus breakfast for €1.50 in a place from which you can easily walk to any central part of the city? It is a very good value for the price. So if your needs are basic and you want to save on hostel this is a good choice.

The hostel is about a 30 minute walk from the train station and easy to find. It is fairly centrally located near the university and not far from the reconstructed old town.

Got to the hostel and range the buzzer for about 15 minutes with no response, felt stranded. This only happened on one other occasion in my comings and goings over three days, though it was an inconvenience.

Beds were horrible, double foam mattresses that looked like a taco and wooden bunks that creaked with every breath.

Breakfast (bread, cheese and instant coffee) available for purchase in the mornings.

Random strangers not staying in the hostel walking around the hostel and hanging out (some spending the night) in the common area, with no concern by hostel staff. One traveler had his bag stolen from the common area while I was staying there; security is a concern.

Bad things can happen anywhere, though they just seem more likely to happen here…stay elsewhere in Warsaw.

Room Tip: Always choose the bottom bunk, if staying in another hostel is not an option.

Booked this place up about 3 months ago for 2 nights to co-incide with the World Cup qualifier game, Poland v England. Quick and efficient communication. Only a short walk from the main town, but ever so close to the stadium. Appeared to be fairly new, or at least had had a recent lick of paint. Clean rooms & bathrooms (both mixed sexes). Nice common room with TV and DVD facilities, 3 internet enababled PC's (although 2 were out of action) Breakfast was 5 PTL cereal and continental. Free tea & coffee.

I left needing to get a bus to Modlin airport, Agatha sorted it all out for me with no complaints, great service.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
There's no doubt that the Tatamka hostel stands out above other accommodation in Warsaw. One of the biggest advantages is its superb location - the building is just around the corner from the most popular streets in the city, Nowy Swiat and Krakowskie Przedmiescie, and a short 15 minute walk from the Old Town. What does this mean? Put simply, you are within staggering distance of countless clubs, bars, pubs and restaurants.Other attractions of the capital city are also nearby: the business centre, shopping malls and numerous monuments - the Royal Baths included! With all these attractions around, you probably won't just be hanging round the hostel. That being said, it's good to know what this place has to offer: private rooms for 1, 2, 3 or 4 people (with or without bathrooms) as well as single places in bigger rooms: for 6, 8 and 10 people. We take care that the type of room and furnishings of the hostel suit each visitor - although the classical backpacker is well catered for because hostels are made primarily for them. That's why you'll find, amongst other things:- A common room with DVD player - an ideal place to relax and have a chat,- Free internet access (as well as wireless internet connection),- A fully-equipped kitchen,- Free coffee and tea,- Barbeque facilities.Because of the varied standards of our rooms and the many services provided on the hostel premises, our satisfied guests are also varied - foreign tourists visiting Warsaw, businessmen, organized groups and conference participants. Not only backpackers feel at home here! ... more   less
