Having looked at the reviews on TA before booking and speaking on the forums, my wife opted for the Mamaison for our stay.
Firstly i'll start with the cost. If you can book in advance and take advantage of their non refundable rates, you will truly bag yourself a great deal. I managed to get a room here for only EUR60 per night. Ok, its not a flexible rate, but we knew we were going and were happy with the conditions.
First impressions - from the drive from the Airport we thought the area looked very similar to alot of other central Europe destinations we had visited. in this particular part of the city there arent any highrise buildings, which i prefer, and also it was very quiet, again my preferece.
The building doesnt look out of place in the surrounding area and blends in well. The area has a lovely ambience about it, almost like you have the whole place to yourself at times.
The location - set at the end of the Royal Route, it first seems away from the action. But after a few minutes you notice that the walk from the hotel uncovers some fantastic places and buildings. The Old Town is literally less than 5 minutes walk away. There are some lovely places to eat, drink and rest here. I will cover my stay in a report later today.
The Hotel - we walked into to a very clean, welcoming reception area and was greeted by 2 members of staff. Both were very attentive and made check in a breeze. Considering we arrived at only 1100am we were able to check straight into our room, giving us practically a full day sightseeing. We came across approx 10 members of staff during our stay and each one were very polite and dealt with any requests very efficiently and in a "human" manner.
The Rooms - the rooms have lovely big doors into the rooms and once inside the rooms size is also very generous. A smart large bathroom with twin basins, bath, and rain shower and the warmest towel rails ever (trust me - not a bad thing!). The bed was a large King Bed with a nightly turn down service. My wife and i fought over the Ferrero Rochers!. The decor was neutral cream walls with dark wood furniture. Our room looked over the main street but no noise to be heard at all.
We didnt stay for breakfast or meals, so i cannot comment, but it looked extremely well presented from what we saw. We did have the apple pie and ice cream though and for only 12pln was gorgeous.
There are many lovely hotels in Warsaw but for me this hotel offers a uniqueness. For me the hotel seems to be about the guests and the fact its not a sprawling hotel means that you do get the sense that nothing is too much trouble for the staff. It has a boutique feel and i for one would recommend this to anyone wanting a beautiful place to stay. Ten out of Ten.
