“Ideal base for a trip to Warsaw”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We have just returned from a trip to Warsaw and found the Ibis Stare Miasto to be an excellent choice of hotel. It is conveniently located, just a short walk from the old town. The rooms are very comfortable with lovely hot power showers. We also received complimentary water, which was a very nice touch. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. I had inadvertently printed out an incorrect boarding pass for our return to the UK with Wizzair, the staff were extremely kind in accessing the correct document and printing out for me. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and the reception staff (and others of course) are working in very trying circumstances, with dust, noise and other associated difficulties of building work, but they still manage to maintain their professionalism and friendliness.

Whilst we did not eat at the Ibis, the menu seemed to be quite reasonably priced and the food we saw looked okay. We did appreciate the 24 hour bar, especially on the night of our arrival which was around midnight when we had a few drinks and a little relaxation before we went to bed. The bar prices were not too bad, considering we were drinking in a hotel.

We found the hop on hop off bus to be a good way to get an overview of the city and it was very convenient being able to get off at the sights you want to see and then back on to the bus to where you need to be. It was 80 zlotys for a 48 hour ticket, which we thought was very reasonable. Warsaw has some beautiful architecture and it was lovely to see.

There are lots of lovely restaurants and bars in the old town and we tried a few! We enjoyed a very good night at the Pub-Senator on Ul Wqski Dunaj, very reasonably priced drinks and we also had an evening complete with Polish karaoke which was somewhat different! We had eaten at the nearby restaurant Gospodakwiatypolskie, which served traditonal food, absolutely delicious, with HUGE portions and very reasonable prices, vodka was only 6 zl. There is an Irish Bar across the road, where we also had a couple of good hours.

All in all we had a great time and would highly recommend the Ibis as a base.

Room Tip: A higher floor is quieter during the time of building work, which can be a little noisy.

Hard to have a good impression when you walk into the lobby and there isn't one! During my 2 day stay there was only a desk in the middle of construction as the whole lobby had been gutted. This also meant that there was no internet station which when I asked what I could do/use was met with a shrug of the shoulders and 'nic' which meant 'nothing'. Room ok and clean, hard bed, but you do get what you pay for. Check-in person was surly but I wasn't sure if it was because she didn't speak any English or she was new. Didn't ask for I.D. and handed hotel card to be filled out and just asked for my telephone number.
The good: walking distance to Stare Miasto, hotel is one of the stops for the hop-on/hop-off tour bus which is convenient if you want to grab a 2 hour tour to get your bearings.
The bad: staff seemed inexperienced

The Ibis Warsaw is at 10/15 walk from the Old Town. Easy to arrive by taxi from the airport only 12 Kms.. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The reception team is friendly and helpfull. The relation price/quality is appreciated and very much worthwhile. The breakfast is good and not expensive. We were in this Ibis between December 29 and 31st, 2012.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are less noisy.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013 via mobile

Although located on a major avenue, close to the former ghetto and to the Old Town, it was very silent in the rooms with absolutely no noise disturbance from the street. The building is modern and so are the rooms. Not too spacious, but reasonable for a hotel of this category. But I was amazed about the absolutely clean aspect of both the rooms and the commons in the hotel. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Complimentary wifi, but no access at all in the meting rooms. Strange...! Beds with perfect mattrasses and good pillows. Breakfast and lunch in the hotel restaurant were more than satisfactory. Service in the bar was of bad quality and more interested in the TV-program than in the guests. All in all an excellent price-quality relation

Hotel's OK. Room OK, not great but pretty cheap. Restaurant and breakfast awful.... they managed to make everything tasting either nothing or bad. One of the lowest-quality breakfast I've ever tasted.
Needed an iron, I got one.... that could kill me (destroyed, leaking, not securized) and when i suggested they put it in a bin because it was impossible to use they just put it back in the closet!
Please teach the staff to SMILE !! I know Poles are not the most smiling people in the world, but this place earned the "unsmiling polish contest"

So.... for that price, it was ok. No more.
