“Top-Notch 3-star”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013 via mobile

A nice hotel in a not-so-nice location. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, seemed recently refurbished, and the bathroom was large compared to most European hotels of similar price and quality. Breakfast was very good, lots of selection and good quality.

The only negative is the location. It would be a long walk across the bridge to old town (25-30 mins). The tram is only a 5-7 min walk from the hotel and one stop to Old Town. Go one more stop to get nearer the Warsaw Ghetto memorial, and then walk back to Old Town. I asked at the front desk about close restaurants, and I was warned about walking around, "here to tram is okay, but not to other areas." They said to go back to Old Town to eat (which is more expensive due to being tourist area).

Overall, I would recommend the hotel for quality for the price. We were booked here through Escape2Poland.

It is difficult to believe that Hetman Hotel is only a three-star hotel. Everything was just perfect! We got a quiet room with a big bathroom and as mentioned here before, the breakfast was wonderful! We didn't need lunch until 3pm most of the days.

Public transport was efficient and it was very easy to get to the hotel from the airport using the bus.

Room Tip: Room 312 was great!

While the rest of my family stayed at the Marriott, my husband and I stayed at the Hetman and loved it. Taxi from the airport knew the hotel. It cost about $15aud from Chopin airport. The receptionist was very helpful, spoke fluent English and every question asked about the area, he answered with knowledge. Heaps of local cuisine nearby, bank across the road, deli next door, convenience store and pharmacy around the corner. Cosy traditional hotel. Room is basic. Husband did not like the bed but I found it soft and comfy though it did have a passion pit. No aircon, but it was Sept and we had the windows open to cool down if needed. It is cheap to stay here. Not a tourist area, but you will find many restaurants speak basic English. No safe box or fridge in the room. TV had good reception. Bus 226 (across the road) takes you into Old Town. Husband is very basic about his breakfast (eggs and bacon) but loved what they had to offer. We rolled out of the breakfast room every morning.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street for those who like to sleep in.

Very helpful staff and wifi. Amazing balcony with amazing view. Big rooms with nice furniture - very homely and continental. Prime location for proper Warsaw experience. Fine breakfast. One of the few places like this in Warsaw.

Room Tip: With a balcony

Room size large open and airy, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet delicious. Centrally located near bank, shopping mall, etc. Overall, a great place to stay while visiting Warsaw. Took a city tour recommended by hotel which was also very pleasant and informative. .

We stayed one night and cannot fault the hotel itself. Spacious and spotless room at a good price, friendly and helpful staff, and one of the best breakfast spreads we have had anywhere. But...
although Praga district may be "up and coming," even the staff says there's nothing to see or do. The walk to and then across the bridge to Old Town (which is where you want to be) is long and less than thrilling. Take a tram, bus or better yet a taxi back and forth; it's worth it.
(Also, do not trust the Tripadvisor map currently on display; the hotel is in a completely different part of town.)
We had a streetside room with balcony. Noises in the morning were of people going to work (not drunken revellers like in Krakow), and the view of the hotel across the street was right out of Hitchcock's "Rear Window" so it all had an authentic feel that raised a smile. But maybe not for everyone.
On the other side of the river, Warsaw is awesome. We wish this place was right there.

Room Tip: If you are an early-rising urbanite, choose the street side--better than television. If not, don...

We stayed in a twin room at the back of the hotel on the third floor for 4 nights recently. We found this to be an excellent hotel with helpful staff. The room was very good for the price we paid (we stayed in 3 hotels on this trip all of which were 3* and the Hetman was the best). Rooms very clean, although no A/C we found just opening the window OK. Breakfasts are amazing - so much choice! There's a pc on reception that you can use for free which was great for us. The hotel is in the Praga district which we were told to be careful of and avoid going out late at night. We found the area to be fascinating, off the tourist route, with cafe/bars offering basic food and bohemian entertainment. On our walks round the area looking for places, we came across many lovely, helpful people who spent time talking to us and giving us directions. The centre of Warsaw Old Town is as MaureenCork1981 says just a short walk accross the river, transport links from the Hotel are good even though work is being done on nearby street. An excellent hotel, we would use it again.

Room Tip: Room at the back was good.
