“Poor 5* Hotel, Average 4* Hotel, Good 3* Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2011

A good 3* Hotel, although classified as 5* Hotel.
Check-in: Fast and professional. Upgraded to a Junior Suite.
Room: About 25m2, comfortable king-size bed. Bathroom with bathtub and walk-in shower.
Cleaning: Always clean.
Breakfast: Good, with a lot to choose.
Gym: Not first class, but good average.
Staff: Friendly and helpful.
This review is based on my classification, means assessing this hotel as a 3* Hotel. If I have to assess the hotel as a 5*, review would be poor. Dear Hotel Manager, don’t you think “degrading” your hotel to a 3-4* hotel would help you to get much better reviews?

Overall, I was pleased with the Radisson Blu in Warsaw. The city of Warsaw can still offer some attractive pricing for folks from the US, so this hotel allows an American to experience some comfort without breaking the bank.

The location of the hotel was good for me - not right next to the Old Town, but a ten minute walk from the Central train station. It was well positioned for public transit - the bus system is quite extensive and with a map, it is very easy to use the buses. One stops right outside the hotel. The hotel had free wired internet in the room, and it worked well.

The shower was a large glass enclosed stall, and the temperature was terrific. There was a handheld shower and also an overhead (standard) shower fixture. The water pressure was adequate - when I first saw the setup, I expected strong jets of water and I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps it is for the best, as the drain is at floor level, and so if the water does not drain quickly, you can have a bit of a flood. Shower amenities were fine.

I found the bed to be comfortable. The one problem that I experienced was the noise from an event being held in the lobby on a Saturday night. My room was on the third floor, and I could still hear the thump of the bass from the music at this event. It lasted until 1am. Next time I will ask at reception for a higher floor.

The "business center" is actually a small room (the size of a closet) off the main lobby. It has a computer terminal and printer. These require the use of a credit card for use, and I did not pay for it, so I do not know the prices.

Breakfast was quite extensive. A very nice buffet. Only one time, during a very large rush at 10am, were some of the items not available. Other than that time, the staff kept everything well-stocked. The spread included typical American breakfast items plus a nice selection of fruit and yogurts. There was also a good selection of breads and meats/cheeses as typically found at European breakfasts.

This is the second time that I have stayed at this hotel - for a long weekend in both cases - and I have been satisfied.

More than 3 months ago I booked an executive room for 5 days, asking for a queen size bed and a high floor. I thought it will be an special room, well prepared to receive people that want to stay more than a couple of days, as explained in hotel's site. My first disappointment occurred in the arrival, with the reception desk staff. The girl that welcomed me searched for a room and said to me that it could be in the 8th floor - the hotel has 10 floors. I said that’s ok for me. Suddenly a guy, seemed to be the chief at that period, started to talk with her in polish - a language that I'm not able to catch even a single word - then she came back to me and said that the room was blocked, she could find another one in the 6th floor. In that case, I said to her, I prefer to take a smokers room, avaiable only at the 5th floor. I went to see that room and it hadn't a queen size bed, only twin beds. So I accepted the 6th floor offer, but feeling very sad about all. The second disapointment was with the room. The only difference between a standard and an executive room are the ammenities offered. I was supposed to pay around 70 euros only to have a robe, a slipper and a Nespresso machine, that, at least at the room I took, didn't work well. The wardrobe, as shown in the picture that I shoot, it’s very small, and has only two small drawers. I visited a standard room where a Brazilian guy was hosted, and all the things and spaces was exactly the same as in my room.
The result: I stayed only 1 day.
The most impressive occurred when I went to the reception to warn that I would leave the hotel in the next day. I talked direct with the same guy that seemed to be the chief, and he didn't even asked me why. For myself, it's a strange behavior for a staff from a hotel that uses "100% Guest Satisfaction Guarantee" as a slogan.

Room Tip: Look for one in other hotel

Nice hotel on a good location with good service. It is however a typical business hotel so there is no local flavor (for people who would be looking for that)

There is not much to say about this hotel other than it was excellent in most every way. Cleanliness, service, room quality, sleep quality, location and quality of the fitness center were all excellent.

The only negative comment was that on Sunday morning the fitness center opened late and when it did open the steam bath and sauna were not heated. A bit of a disappointment as I wanted a quick sauna before checking out. I think it should open earlier than 8am, even on Sundays. I must say though, the fitness center is top notch and the pool/sauna area is really nice.

Otherwise, my stay was very, very comfortable and pleasant.

Radisson's newer Hotels in Europe very reliable now. Was satisfied with everything at this one. Very good facility. Room comfortable, with good lighting, bathroom, internet. Excellent breakfast. Only issue was location which was a bit far from tourist spots and limited restaurants close by. Despite this, Radisson was fair value for the price and would stay here before paying substantially more for 5-star in Old City. Observed that this Hotel is on the radar for tour groups, the kind that arrive en masse in large busses. Did not see the fitness center.
