“A bit overrated...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2011

This recently renovated hotel is in a convenient location for the Warsaw city centre and offers clean, luxurious and comfortable rooms. In my case I had a quiet room facing what used to be inside courtyard (now the ground floor has a roof and is used as the lobby of the hotel).

After reading the reviews here on trip advisor I was full of expectations. In general, the hotel is fine, however, in my opinion it is a bit overrated, especially when one considers the price per night.

Here are a few examples:
- breakfast: a nice good quality buffet breakfast but some things weren't right, like the scrambled eggs which looked and tasted strange (they seemed to be made from an egg concentrate coming out of a tetra pack rather than being made using real eggs).

- staff were helpful and generally did what they had to do. However, I always had the feeling they were not enjoying their jobs. I was here on business and when I asked for help with changing the set up of a small stall/booth I got the answer: "I don't know whether this is possible, I have to check with the boss." 2 minutes later the same person came back and without saying a word he did what I had asked him - with a grim face and without looking at me again.

- the most unpleasant thing was the water quality: I enclose a photo of the water BEFORE I got into the shower. I don't think this is unusual in Warsaw but I would expect that a hotel like this one has some kind of water filter in place! I urge anyone not to use water from the tap for drinking/brushing teeth etc. It looks and smells awful.

The hotel was excellent, and very beautiful landmark of Warsaw. The receptionists were also very nice and helpful. I do recommend to stay in this hotel but refrain from the extras because they are extremely expensive. Breakfast was around 20 euros per person and for this price you can even eat nice dinner with two people in Warsaw. Besides, I drink one glass of water for 7 euros in the bar.

The lobby is very beautifully decorated with plenty of greenery and some privacy to sit and enjoy. The reception was very helpful and friendly and offered every help needed to get around Warsaw, including help within the hotel. The business center is small with two computers, but it works fine. Free printing is also available. Wifi is available in the room if you have your own computer. The restaurant and coffee shop are also tastefully decorated and provide very good selections. The breakfast was well arrayed, except there is always a higher concentration of pork and very few other meat options. The rooms were spacious, clean, attractively decorated with clean new bathrooms. I would definitely stay in this hotel, but I would suggest a change in menu to accommodate different palates and increase its choices for healthy eaters and vegetarians. I would also suggest putting more smiles on the faces of the receptionists. Overall and excellent hotel and stay.

Room Tip: Request a room higher up to avoid street noise

Had a fantastic three day stay at the Polonia Palace. Confirmation of reservation before I left home was immediate, check in was simple and the staff charming. The room was huge, clean with bottled water provided (everyday).

Breakfast was superb the staff again charming and helpful. Very well located close to the metro and opposite the 175 (airport) bus route.

Faultless - well done!

The hotel was lovely, in a great location near the metro, major bus/tram routes and train station. Lovely room; very spacious and modern with nice big bathroom with good shower. Had all you could want, and you could ask reception if you needed anything else. The breakfast (which we booked when we got there) was a great variety of hot and cold food - even serving Vodka and sparkling wine.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2011

I stayed for two nights at this hotel in April 2011. Having lived in Warsaw myself, I was impressed by the location: it cannot get any better for moving around. As a tourist I'd rather stay in the old town. The hotel was more like 5-star than 4, but a couple of things made it slightly worse: bad, lumpy pillows, the cleaner leaving trash on the floor and the breakfast crew trying to charge me 11 PLN for a cup of coffee even though it is included in the breakfast buffet.

On the plus side, the ice-cold vodka at the breakfast buffet is something I haven't seen anywhere else. The room was big, but unfortunately I didn't have time to visit the gym/swimming pool/sauna section. Remember to ask for a city taxi rather than hotel taxi, since the hotel taxi's cost almost double.

PoloniaPalaceWarsaw, Dyrektor generalny at Polonia Palace Hotel, responded to this review, May 5, 2011
Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your input about the Polonia Palace Hotel; such comments are invaluable to us. We would like to take this opportunity to respond to a couple of things which have been mentioned a few times, both in your and other guests’ comments.

The most oft-repeated comment we receive from our guests is that the breakfast buffet is huge, varied, delicious and beautifully-presented. It costs 18 EUR per person (9 EUR during the weekends – present prices), which is one of the best offers available, in comparison to the 4&5 star hotels market. It would be very difficult to us to keep the same level of quality and lower the price.
We know that our guests like to arrive – and depart - safely. As such, we offer you our hotel car service. All the hotel cars are Mercedes E Class, and all the drivers are friendly, courteous and speak English. With a set price of 20 EUR for a single journey to or from the airport (as well competitive transfer prices to other European capitals). we are pleased to add this to your hotel bill, to make things as simple as possible. The city taxis are of course available, and we will help you order a taxi from the hotel, but unfortunately we cannot take any responsibility for the service provided by city taxis.
We very much appreciate your review, and are looking forward to welcoming you back at the Polonia Palace Hotel in the near future.

Kind regards,

Alexander Huschka

The hotel has style and is a good hotel. However, the mattress was too soft and did a grave. The room is comfortable and clean. The staff was very professional. we didn't had breakfast because the price was too high and you can get very nice breakfast near the hotel must more cheaper. The hotel has a great location near the metro and 15 min by walking to the center.
