The Bristol is a nearly impeccable hotel, with friendly service and gorgeous details at every step of the way. The historic building has been beautifully maintained, and rooms are just as attractive as they are comfortable. You can understand how the royals live without having to pay top dollar, essentially. The extra steps they took were a signal of how this is no ordinary hotel - nice umbrellas were lent to any guests who were silly enough to visit Europe without one, and taxis and wake-up calls were offered to departing guests before they even needed to request. The only marginally negative element was the showerhead - with everything else so beautiful and pristine, it was odd to have an old, unattractive showerhead sticking through the marble walls of the bathroom. If you do - unfortunately - have to leave the walls of this lovely hotel, you are on a central street with countless cafes and restaurants within walking distance.
