“How a City hotel should be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

I stayed at the Novotel Centrum in several occasions and I always found it a good benchmark for hotels in other cities, elegant and practical are the first words that come to mind when describing this hotel. Excellent location in centre of the city, the rooms offer all the comforts and on the higher floors the view over the city is fantastic. The staff is very professional and efficient and the breakfast is another highlight of the staying.

Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in conjunction with two other destinations on this vacation with friends. Awesome location, excellent service, great breakfast and well worth what you pay for. So much of the key tourist sites are within walking distance---whether it's the train station, restaurants and bars, museums and shopping that is your pleasure, this Novotel is definitely the place to stay. Highly recommended for whatever your purpose is in Warsaw!

Room Tip: High floor with city view

Stayed here for the night on a short business trip during a chilly December, the hotel was excellent in so many ways. Despite a late arrival the reception staff were very helpful. The restaurant had a good selection to chose from, including traditional polish dishes. The dumplings were very good.

The next leg of business trip to Krakow was made very easy with a 5 minute walk to the train station.

Stayed here for three days recently for a business trip and found the hotel to be good. The staff were very helpful with everything and the room I had was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was extremely busy but managed well and there was no waiting time which was quite impressive given the amount of people that came down at the same time!

The building dates back to the late 1970s and for many years, when Poland was under communist rule, was known as the Forum Hotel. Now, completely renovated, it is the Novotel Centrum.

Indeed, it can hardly be more centrally located. It's a 5-minute walk if you arrive to Warsaw by train to the Warszawa Centralna train station. From the airport, it's a 30 minute ride on bus #175 (station right next to the hotel, 1 stop after the train station). A taxi would cost 60 - 70 PLN, the ride taking 15 - 20 minutes. Bus 175 travels on to the Grand Theater and the Old Town. Aleje Jerozolimskie and Marszalkowska (where the hotel is located) is the shopping center, with the Zlote Tarasy mall located right behind the train station.

I stayed on the 6th floor and had a great view to the city center. I can imagine how magnificent the view from the higher floors (31 of those) is. Rooms are not very big, but not small. I had a lovely bath tub, a hairdryer, a safe, tea and coffee facilities and plenty of storage space. TV channels include many Polish stations (TVP 1, 2, 3, TVN, TVN 24, Ale kino and others), English news channels (Euronews, BBC, CNN) and programs in French (TF1, France 2, 5, France 24), German (ARD, RTL) , Italian (Rai Uno), Spanish (TVE) and Russian (RTR Planeta).

Breakfast is wonderful: a great variety of choices in a very pleasant restaurant. Highly recommended.

Service extremely friendly and efficient.

I was definitely pleased: The price was a great deal and the hotel is simply a great choice.

This is a good hotel for a business trip. I picked a room with one double bed, which left enough space for a couch, a small table, a desk and two chairs. The room had a small refrigerated minibar, a coffee maker, a TV, a built-in pedestal for your suitcase, a hair dryer, and other amenities. The room and the bathroom were clean.

The hotel is located a very short distance from the "Centrum" metro station and about 5-minute walk from the "Warszawa Centralna" train station. There are bus stops and tram stops just across from the hotel. Note that you must use an underground passage to cross the intersection in front of the hotel. The underground passage has separate exists to the tram lanes and to the four corners of the intersection, which is confusing on the first time.

A significant advantage of the hotel for people who plan to walk around the town is its height. It is the tallest hotel in the neighborhood, so you can see it from afar if you are lost day and night.

There is free Wifi available in the room with good reception. However, you need to get coupons from the front desk containing user names and passwords. Each coupon is good for 12 hours. You can get a stack of coupons from the front desk.

I arrived early on the first day, and my room was ready around noon on a Saturday.

The restaurant in the hotel is pricey. Breakfast costs 65 Zloty, which is more than 3 times the cost of a sandwich and coffee in a nearby "Coffee Heaven" shop. However, it is a good deal on a weekend if you plan to walk a lot around town. I had a big breakfast with various cooked food for breakfast, which sustained me until dinner.

If you plan to check out in the early morning (say 3am), you need to pay the front desk in the previous evening, because the night person cannot accept payments. The front desk also arranged a taxi for me from the hotel to the airport at 3am for a flat fee of 60 Zloty. The driver waited for me on time.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the 22nd floor or above (the hotel has 31 floors). The view from lower floors may be...

Stay there, as I did it also before, but this time was a bit dissapointed. Probably it was due not to so effective check-in, basic rooms (from advertisments on TV screen in elevator I understood tht they are changing the design, and that might be the cause for those who stay in old fashioned rooms) with small TV and relatively small (for hotel breakfest traditions in Poland) choice of cold meals for breakfest. Also as a problem for such a huge hotel - breakfest rooms were usually overcrowded, but anyway personnel managed their duties well. As I recently stood in class lwer Ibis Muramowska hotel, I may conclude that Novotel amenities, incl breakfest, is just slightly better than in that Ibis (which is the best Ibis I know). Just hope for improvements, as this hotel has really excellent location.
