“one of Old Town symbols”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

When you look on the panoramic view of the Old Town you can see the characteristic attica of the cathedral. Before the 2nd world war it was different one, but not so nice like now. During a way the church suffered a lot like a whole Warsaw. It has very special atmosphere of a religious place, historic one and additionally - a place with good organs. That is why during summer time concerts take place in this church. For those foreigners who can only visit Warsaw and no other city in Poland it could be interesting to see a copy of the Black Madonna (original in Jasna Gora in Czestohowa) and tombs of some great Poles under the cathedral's floor. It is not as beautiful as cathedral in Cracow but still very special place!

“Another stop on the tour of churches”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2012

This church is in old town and deserves the respect it has as the oldest church. The serenity was nice is one of several places where prayers are being said for the beatification of Pope John Paul II. Take your time to be peaceful and go outside of the scheduled service time.

“One of the oldest churches in Warsaw”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2010

First church in this place was built in the 14th century. Then it was rebuilt many times until it got its current shape 19th century. During WWII all the capital was destroyed by the Germans including the catherdral. It's an important place for the Polish people as many great Poles are buried there including one Polish king, several prices, two Polish presidents and many more. It's easy to visit - there's no admission fee. Just be sure to visit outside prayer time. You can include the visit in your exploration of the old town in Warsaw. Make sure to wander all tiny streets aroung the cathedral as they are atmospheric as well.
