“Depressing but necessary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Unfortunately, too many historical sites in Warsaw are connected with Nazis and torture. Pawiak Prison is very high on this list. We visited here immediately after touring the Gestapo Headquarters. (I think we wanted to get it all over with in one day.) The exhibits here are informative, personal and very sad. Too many people who passed through Pawiak didn't live to tell their tales, but the prison is a fitting tribute to their memory. Incidentally, the entry fee to Pawiak covers the entry to the Gestapo Headquarters also.

“disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

You (or I, for that matter) will never really dig the horror of this place. I would advise to go there to try to have a sip of it. A poor one though, as the exposition is incomplete and somewhat... not expressive enough. Some more professionalism would help I guess.

“Horrible to Think About”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Many of the things to see in Warsaw are, unfortunately, gut-wrenching. This is one of them. On our trip, we tried to balance fun and horrible. I think seeing this sort of thing is important, though. About 10% of the population of Warsaw passed through this prison, most either killed here or sent on to concentration camps. The prison itself was blown up by the Nazis, but part of the basement survived, and that houses the museum today. It is small, but well done.

Pawiak isn't by other things that tourists usually frequent, so there were no taxis to take us back to the hotel. There was a subway station not *too* far away, but we couldn't get the ticket machine to take our bills, and all of my change had been taken by the ticket woman at the botanical garden that morning. So, we walked. It took us about 45 minutes to get to Old Town, where we finally found a taxi.

“Small but Worth It”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Not the biggest museum in the world, but the information, artifacts and place in history make this a place to visit. Ticket is also good for Gestapo Museum.

“Informative and excellent staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

We arrived on Thursday and realized entrance was free on that day.
We began to eat our lunch in the outside entrance. Before long the attendants called us in, showed us seats in their office, boiled their kettle and made us tea, then brought our tickets to us!

The descriptions are in English and polish and the it was a good way to get a lot of information without reading hours.
