“Great food, excellent service and easy to find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a great restaurant for having a comfortable and excellent meal. The menu and service are available in English and Polish. The choices include fish, pasta and many traditional Polish dishes. We had duck and it was excellent (very moist) and came with a salad and a delicious baked apple. The servings were very generous and the wine excellent. The resturant is located on the mian street very close to old town so is easy to find. Don't be put off by the overly decorated interior or what seems like somewhat higher prices. It is well worth every penny.

“Passed it by dozens of times...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

Well I've been to Warsaw dozens of times and have, honestly, walked by this place dozens of times...it's right at one of the entrances to Old Town, so walking by dozens of times is being truthful...

my friends went for lunch on our first day in town, and decided we were going there for our traditional, the workshop is over, Sunday night dinner...and we did...now when I say this place is right at the main entrance to Old Town, I kid you not...the view is lovely and soothing, even as throngs of tourists/locals are passing by...if seated at a table against the far wall you just might have a slight view of the new National Stadium...

okay let's get to it...

can you say starched white linen table cloths and and napkins? pure white Star Lily floral arrangements (the night we were there), with some of the purple ones thrown in for a splash of color? And I mean real ones, with light scent, not the sort that are in place year after year...

well we were a party of 5 and being a Sunday night, literally the only ones in the place...not sure if they have 'underground dining room' as we wanted the view out the window...

had wine for our drink...no cocktails at our table, but for one gent who was in the mood for some good old Polish Vodka...Belvedere set the pace for him just fine...served chilled of course...the way it should be...matter of fact he ordered another round...

started with shared pupu...

Caprese salad with all the traditional fixings...

Herring, mostly for the vodka drinker...was tasty, but slightly on the salty side for me...

point is though these two pupu were plenty for the 5 of us to share...

the mains were:

2 orders of the duck, for the ladies in the party, which was more or less half a duck with vegetable and starch...and a green salad served in a over sized wine glass, positioned in the middle of the plate...

lamb shank, which was deemed 'perfectly braised' and presented, by the hotelier in the group...

as they have a seasonal menu page, and this being the fall season, it was all things pumpkin...soup...pupu...various entree presentations...I went for the 'medallions of fowl' with a pumpkin sauce, potato 'noodles' (think dumpling) and very fresh broccoli...it was 'some ono' (Hawaiian speak for very good)...

geez racking my brain here to think of the 5th entree and can't come up with it...but it was good and devoured post haste...

we had two desserts...the highly recommended by the waiter cheesecake...a nice treat...and 'flaming creme brulee' which was exactly that...and also very creamy, and tasty...light...

still and water with gas was poured through the meal...

so to recap...we had plenty to eat and drink...two bottles of wine total...plus the two vodka's, two pupu for share, five mains and I think an espresso or maybe two...and the two desserts..

the tab was quite reasonable I thought...

777 PLN = 50usd per person...for the quality and atmosphere and service, well worth it...I"ve been to alot of restaurants in Warsaw with varying menus etc, and one thing I can whole heartedly say about this place is:

VALUE for the money...

for sure I won't be passing it by on my next visit...neither should you...

“Good original Polish cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

original, diverse menu. Within a group of 30 everyone was very satisfied with the food quality. A bit tight interiors but overall a good culinary experience!

“An eighties dream of a place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

Went there on two occasions, for breakfast and coffee and dessert in the late evening. Food was good though the general sense was that they tried a bit too hard with the presentation of the dishes instead of making sure the basics were covered (remembering what people ordered, for example…). Service was a bit sketchy. The interior has a great romantic and fussy sort of eighties feel to it.
