“Freezing in Warsaw”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

I stayed in the Castle Inn for three nights with a group of friends. We go to a different city every December. The hotel is in a great location and very quirky. It is exceptional value and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the square which was beautifully decorated for Christmas

“Absolutely Terrific.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

I spent one night at the Castle Inn, after a week in Berlin. First, it's incredibly easy to find, because it's literally across the street from the National Palace. The staff were incredibly friendly, very kind and helpful. My room (#11) was on the corner and had two views of the square and the palace. Very clean, decent bathroom, and a pile of warm blankets. I highly recommend it.

I was surprised by the old city of Warsaw, lots to do and see, good art, museums, great food. But more than that, an amazing display of human resilience and hope. A good place to be.

Room Tip: You have to climb stairs, so if that's difficult you need a room on their first floor (the build...

“Perfect spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

A two night stay was made at this hotel. Right on the castle square and 3 or 4 minutes walk into the main square it was the perfect site to explore the old town.

Arrived early to drop bags off, however we were immediately offered a selection of rooms, including room 21. This overlooks castle and was just right for US. It is double glazed and there were three radiators making it nice and warm. Ear plugs are supplied, however we did not hear any large amount of noise. It was December and Wednesday and Thursday nights so that may have helped.
Staff were excellent and offered good advice on sights and transport. Most spoke excellent English.
If you are travelling from Molding airport you may want to use A B Everest taxis who are on the internet and charge 75 zloty for 2.
Perfect hotel for that short break in the old town.

Room Tip: 21 was a very nice room

“Great location, honest review - December 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

I booked this hotel through laterooms.com as my boyfriend and I (aged 22 and 25) wanted a cheap break away to celebrate our anniversary, and with cheap flights to Warsaw and the great reviews, I thought this place would be ideal

***First impressions***
Our taxi driver dropped us at the top of the square as vehicles are not permitted in the square, but we knew exactly where to go. Just a short walk over the cobbles and we arrived outside the Castle Inn. You press a buzzer to enter and the door opens automatically, then it is up two flights of stairs to the reception. We arrived just after 13:00 so were under the impression that we would have to leave our luggage and come back to check in at 14:00, however we were able to check in immediately which was good. We were on the 3rd floor so had to lift the suitcase up the stairs but this was not too bad.

***Room and location***
We were in room 31, which is the "tree room" - decorated with green interior, paintings of branches and birds on the wall. It was quite cute. The bed was a double with good pillows and a decent duvet, and a furry blanket was provided if we got too cold. There was a jug of water with two glasses however we were unsure how long this had been sitting there so did not drink it. The bathroom was ok with a toilet, basin and shower cubicle. Shower pressure was good with warm water. There was earplugs sitting on the chest of drawers, however we did not need to use these as there was absolutely no noise outside whatsoever; the only sound is the clock chiming on the hour, but we slept through this mostly. The room has no minibar but the hotel do room service of wine, sweets, cold drinks and cake 24hrs. The hotel is in a prime location, you literally step outside the door and you are in the old town with all its history. It is nice, and Nowy Swait, the main street in Warsaw for shopping etc is about a 10-15 straight walk.

We actually walked the full time while on our trip, we walked down to Nowy swait which has lovely restaurants and bars, we even walked down to Al Jana Pawla II which is about a 30-45min walk which has all the hotel chains and bars! It is really easy to find everything and the hotel provide you with a map to help!

***Overall***
I would recommend this hotel if all you are looking for is a good base when visiting Warsaw, and if you would like to be in the old town embracing the history. It is by no means 4* luxury, but it is clean and quiet. We did not try breakfast, at 35 PLN per person this is a bit steep for what you get - continental breakfast, fresh juices. You could venture out nearby for better value!

We stayed 2 nights between the 11-13th December 2012.

Tips - Booking through laterooms is cheaper than through the hotel website, if arriving at Warsaw Modlin airport and you want to take a taxi - book a taxi through foxtransfers.eu - excellent service, picked up at airport taken to hotel and collected promptly for departure to airport. 40 EUR each way = 80 EUR.

“Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We booked this hotel purely based on reviews here for the location itself as we were visiting for the Christmas Market. Arrived early and couldnt check in until 2pm but they were happy to store our luggage - and even took it up to our room when we returned early evening. We were in room 38 right at the top of the hotel and as other reviewers have stated there is alot of stairs! Our room was based under the eaves with supporting beams either side of the bed and it was dark and rather claustrophbic if i am honest - a small wardrobe tucked into the slopping roof and the bathroom was directly opposite the bed with a sliding door less than a metre away! Small window to allow some light in - i have to say we knew what to expect but the room was a disappointment. Water jug was only filled on our 1st night arrival, no minibar or other facilities available. We booked breakfast at 35 zloty each the following morning as we had a trip arranged early morning - dont bother limited choice and you can get a much better breakfast elsewhere. Would i stay here again - No - loved the quirkiness and reception staff were great - even finding some scales to weigh our luggage before heading off to the airport but if to return would stay at the Meridien Bristol as it was more central to the newer part of the city. As a note in the old town there is lots of restuartants but no bars with music - you will have to head up to the newer area.
