“Sombre and thought-provoking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Worth a visit, if only to reflect on the fact that the occupants of the older graves cannot have had any notion of the horrors inflicted by the Nazis on their descendants. The memorial plaques on the cemetery wall say it all.

“Largest Jewish cemetery in Europe.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

The entrance to the cemetery is on a narrow road on the east side. There are about 180K graves and there is a section from the Lodz ghetto era. There are some rather extravagant mausoleums that are be studied.

“Very interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

Not quite sure what to expect from walking around a graveyard but it is very interesting. Literally spent 2 hours walking around it without knowing. There is a story behind every grave.

“Impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

Soo huge! Incredible to think that the whole jewish population of Lodz dissapeared, but seeing this cemetery you understand how big and rich the jewish community was.
Some tombstones are mausoleum! We made a tour with a guide and it was worthwhile.
