“great location/great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

for a 'central' hotel, the first thing i noticed was how peaceful/rural,the absence of noise, the place was situated.down a turning ,off the upper end of the main street,it proved a10/15 minute stroll into town.shops on either side, leading to the refurbished 'stary rynek'<old market>,via the island in the river.i really liked it.pity i was robbed on day two, waking up in hospital.the hotel staff, who were friendly, efficient and professional at all times, came into their own, providing me with all the info i needed to sort out my situation.i thank them for this.my room was spacious, well appointed and perfect for my tourist needs.the bar/barmen very friendly, although the decor is eclectic/unusual ,it made for a relaxing 'local' where i was glad to round off my nights.other guests seemed to stay only 1night but i would recommend this for a long weekend type visit, due to its location and general ambience

GOOD: The hotel staff is amazing, wery friendly and supportive.Very nice location, in the center of the city. Nice bar, huge selection of local drinks, again very welcoming staff.

BAD: Standard rooms need some improvement, if you planning to stay 1 night it is ok, but if more better to check with them about apartment, they have 2 of them with DVD, jakuzzi, very spacious and comfortable. Better to eat outside, because the food in the restaurant not nice at all compare to what you can get in the city nearby.

Room Tip: Check with the hotel about aparments, they have 2 of them-nice, spacious rooms. Better to eat outs...

Where do i begin.

First off i would like to do as many others, to say that I've stayed at hotels all over Europe and some in Asia and America. So when i write a review it should be balanced.

This is the second worst hotel I've ever been to. Read my review about the shanghai Airport motel for the worst.

At first glance this hotel looks ok. It has an interesting gothic bar, and a private sitting area outside. But at the first day we noticed something crawling / running over the wall to wall carpet in our room (which had not been cleaned in this century).
When we couldn't find the thing we went to bed. The next day we saw it again when we turned on the light. Well it wasn't "it" but more like "a notsoniceword lot". Small bugs living in the carpet.
The next night we asked for another room. At first the staff didn't believe us about the bug problem, but we got another room anyway. After about two minutes in the new room we found out that the bugs were there too. So we asked for yet another room. This time i brought a glass to catch one of the nasty bugs. Immediately after the staff opened the room door I slammed the glass on the floor and caught one.
After that we went from room to room to find a room without the critters. Finally after we've been through all the rooms an two "suites" we got one with LESS bugs.
We slept with clothes and the light on that night...

came for a one nights B&B based more on location rather than qulitey ! very plesantly surpised to get both, we had 3 rooms, all of which were very clean and tidy, the bar area which was strangly furnished [a Gothic under tone] was also clean and well run, and I was surprised to be able to order hot food after midnight !. The hard to find breakfast room, was yet again clean and tidy, with a larger choise than the usual Continental style breakfasts. All in all we had a very pleasant stay in Bydgoszcz
