“Great stay in a very modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We spent 3 nights in the Puro hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed it, although my mum did not as much as me as she found it too modern and too reliant on technology. The staff were really helpful and friendly and we felt welcome.

The room was spacious, with 2 very comfy beds, the tv was really big and it had plenty of channels to watch. I did not have any problems using the ipad-like display to control the light in the room and temperature, but my mum, again, was not a fan. The light in the bathroom as a motion sensor so if you are in there for too long without moving too much the light might dim on you. Your room keycard allow you to have a masimum of 5 hot drinks from the machine in the lobby, so make sure that if you are sharing the room with somebody you each get one. You will need it if you want a hot drink with breakfast too.

Breakfast was amazing: a fantastic choice of pastries and cakes, ready-made sandwiches, paninis (which they can make hot for you if you like) and bagels, a selection of juices, cereal, toast, pancakes, yoghurt, meats, sausages and scrambled eggs. You will not go hungry!

The hotel is 5 minutes away from the Rynek/ Ratusz (the Town Hall in the city centre), but if you arrive by train you will find it is over 30 minutes walk from the station. If you arrive by train and you don't want to walk or catch a taxi your best bet is to exit the station NOT from the front exit, but from the exit which leads to the BUS station. Trams 31 Plus and 32 Plus have a stop 2 minute walk from there (at the front of the bus station) and they have a stop at "Plac Orlat Lwowskich" which is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel (do cross over the little park and you will arrive at Wlodkowica street, where Puro Hotel is.)

I would recommend this hotel if you like modern affordable luxury in a great location but if you prefer a less-technology oriented hotel then you may not enjoy it as much. I will surely stay again if I go back to Wroclaw and would love to stay at their new branch in Krakow when it opens, as it looked amazing from the outside when we were there earlier this week.

Great hotel, don't have anything negative to say. Free hot chocolate and coffee in reception every day. Breakfast was great, lovely cakes / pastries, pancakes (which my husband couldn't get enough of). Room extremely modern with everything controlled by panel on wall and ipads in reception for guests to use for free. Not too far from train / bus station and walking distance to main square. Staff helpful with any queries.

Very well positioned with a lovely garden, clean & confortable, if you are into technology this hotel is a must. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast had a good selection of food. With the room keycard you get hot drinks from lobby free every day, Strongly recommended!

Whilst I agree with a number of points other reviewers have made, this hotel was quite a big disappointment for us.I'll be concise and list the pros and cons in our opinion, as I think it's quite important that other people don't get taken in by the rave reviews as we did. As mentioned, this hotel is very much focused on the technology factor, which is fine as long as the technology is working, or if you are so technologically minded that all you care about is being able to watch movies etc from your i-phone/ laptop etc. Many of the usual comforts that we expect from a hotel were not up to standard.

PROS:

1. Very good location in a fairly quiet street with a number of excellent bars and restaurants.
2. Spotlessly clean in all areas.
3. Comfortable beds
4. Good shower, fairly powerful.
5. Friendly & helpful staff.
6. Good coffee.
7. Housekeeping was good, clean towels every day if required and good cleaning.

CONS:

1. Fluorescent lighting on outside walls shone through the gaps in the curtains and made it too bright in the room.
2. Poor air con, much too warm as the temperature outside was 27c. We had to move rooms twice to try and find a cooler room, and the technology couldn't seem to cope with this as the new rooms couldn't recognise us. The i pad wouldn't work at all, which meant no lights, air con etc. This took the best part of an hour to sort out, with us having to keep going down to reception.
3. Not enough storage/hanging space, we lived out of our suitcase which I NEVER usually do.
4. Breakfast fairly poor, ready made rolls, pancakes etc, over ripe fruit. Scrambled eggs and do it yourself toast were ok. Cafeteria style room, not very inviting.
5. No tea or coffee making facilities in room, so if you wanted a drink on getting up, you had to get dressed and go down to the lobby. Can't comment on the tea, as I don't drink it, but the coffee was good, just object to having to make a trip to get it first thing in the morning!
6. The i pad control on the wall wouldn't switch off at night, so was beaming light straight onto the sleeping area. It's not that we're too technologically stupid to work it, as other people had the same problem.
7. The bathroom lights are controlled remotely by movement and there was no way to override this. Therefore, every trip to the loo in the night was met with the lights coming on, not ideal.
8. The worst aspect for me were the glass walls in the bathroom. I had assumed (wrongly) that the modesty curtain would wrap around the whole bathroom, but no. The curtain divided the room in half, so that if one person was using the loo or was showering, the other person couldn't use the main door,or access the "wardrobe", the mirror or the safe. Maybe some people find this acceptable and to be fair the showering part didn't bother us, but I like a modicum of privacy when sitting on the loo!! Someone came to our door when my husband was in the shower and I couldn't open it as they would have had a full frontal of him in the shower!!
9. The duvet was smaller than the bed, not that we needed the duvet as it was so warm. The air con did eventually reach a comfortable temperature after 3 days!

Just come back from a weekend in Wroclaw staying at the Puro. This hotel is superb. Check in is via touch screen in reception so is hassle free with no queuing. The room we stayed in overlooked the street that the hotel sits on. It was spotlessly clean, the beds were extremely comfortable and an iPad on the wall controlled the room lighting, air conditioning etc, you even checked out on it.
If you did need to speak to staff there was always someone on hand who was polite and helpful. It is only a ten minute walk from the Rynek, but be sure to try the small square directly opposite the hotel for food and drink, Sarah and Winners bar are superb.
Would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.

I have stayed here a few times previously for business, but this week was a mix of business and pleasure, and the stay has been excellent.

Very comfortable memory phone bed, great showers and well appointed rooms. You can connect your laptop or iPad to the TV and watch your own movies. Wifi is pretty good as well - certainly good enough to stream Netflix through a proxy.

The staff are what really make the hotel however- wonderfully polite and helpful. For example I managed to tear a pair of trousers and they arranged for the repair to be done that morning and the trousers collected from and returned to my room, something more expensive hotels would not do.

The only down side is that they don't offer dry cleaning, so if you need more than basic laundry you need to go outside. However they were able to direct me to an excellent dry cleaners in the nearby Renoma store.

The room service girl are excellent as well - the room has never been less than spotless and they have always been happy to return if I've been using the room in the morning. The trick is to use the do not disturb and please service buttons next to the card slot by the door.

There isn't much of a restaurant, more a bar that does snacks, but the street outside has some great places, ranging from a pub to one of the best restaurants in Poland (La Magdelena. If you go, do try the scallops. They are excellent).

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel do get a bit of street noise, especially at the weekend, and rooms i...
