“Decent hotel in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

This is a really decent hotel reasonably priced for its location.

It's about a 5 minute walk west of the train station about half a street up from the parkland that surrounds the streets around the main square. The hotel must have a had a makeover since the pictures on here were posted - there's actually a pretty modern cafe which makes up the ground floor frontage of the hotel and backs onto the reception. Staff are confusing and can be awkwardly silent in that charming/funny eastern European way. We arranged a trip to Auschwitz with them even though it's probably a little bit cheaper in town - they arranged for us to be picked up outside the hotel door the next morning so happy days.

Room 43 is an attic room with Velux windows which is clean and large. It has a desk and a TV with one English speaking channel which showed footage of the Boston Marathon bombings on a 24 hour loop. Anyway, not a problem as we were out most of the time. The shower/toilet was pretty basic and not part of the refurbishment of the lobby/rooms but I didn't expect much more for the price.

All in all, good value for money, clean and no complaints.

Well, I came to Krakow for 4 nights to participate in some academic conference. I needed a cheap, nice and clean hotel with BB close to the city center as much as possible. Jordan Guest Rooms matched these requirements. I found clean room, a super hospitable staff and acceptable breakfast in the most beautiful dining room you may find (except the most expensive boutique hotels - see photos attached). Nice coffee bar on the ground floor, supermarket 24\7 in 3 minutes walk, city center - about 10 min. walk. Internet is good enough, but if you'll receive a room on the last floor, you will find only cable internet, and not Wi-Fi.
So why not "excellent"? First, since the rooms are too modest. For example, I think it is not good enough for romantic couple, except young students for them the price is the main reason :) Also, I don't think the hotel will be comfortable for elderly or disabled people (despite the fact that the hotel staff will do their best to help! and there is elevator as well..). I also didn't like a bed too much fussy.. Finally, they don't provide bath accessoires. At least "not always" (?!). However, again, I had a good stay in this hotel and saved a lot of money.

Room Tip: Ask do not receive the last floor.

Inexpensive and very convenient for the main square. I stayed for 3 nights. For a short stay the room and bathroom were adequate but I wouldn't want to stay longer. It was generally clean enough but the sheets were too small to cover the mattress which was gaudily stained with what looked like blood. The carpet was also badly stained which made the room look far worse than it was. The mattress was passed its sell by date and not particularly comfortable. The breakfast was very good and free internet access available in the lobby was a bonus. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed my stay but if I go to Krakow again I will choose a slightly better hotel.

I stayed here in June 2012 with a group of students I work with as part of a choir tour. The staff were kind and friendly at all times and all spoke excellent English which was a bonus when organising a group of 20 students.
I had a single occupancy room on the second floor which was the most bizarre room I've ever stayed in. It had no outside window! The room was square and contained twin beds and a desk and a wardrobe - neutral decor, basic furniture, very much like a hostel rather than a hotel. There was a 'window' consisting of secondary glazing which opened directly onto the main corridor! This meant that I had to spend the whole week with my curtains closed and window shut to avoid people looking in or compromising the security of the room. It was 35-40C all week and the room became insufferably hot without ventilation (the hotel has no AC at all) and I became very dehydrated in the night.
The hotel was fully booked so I couldn't move rooms - I was very glad this was a work trip and I wasn't paying for this room! The rooms that the students and other staff had were all large, light and with windows that opened - It seemed that at somepoint someone saw fit to convert a cupboard into an extra room and that's where I ended up staying. I think it was room 21 or 22 - avoid at all costs.
Breakfast is great, as is the location - if you can get a decent room then this place is a perfect base to see Krakow from.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an opening window!

GOOD POINTS

within easy walking distance of the main square approx 10minutes
free safe in the room
cleanliness of accomadation
buffet breakfast all continental, ham, cheese, salad, bread etc, lots of variety and presented well
english speaking staff
luggage room
shower with good water pressure
decent sized towels

BAD POINTS

We were on the fourth floor and allocated an attic room with 2 bunk beds pushed together to make a double. Apex windows directly above the beds with no blinds so had no choice in waking early due to morning sun, leave the windows open in the night and you wake up with the noise outside or you get wet when it rains.

There are no tea or coffee making facilites in your room and there is no fridge

The room was extremely hot and very uncomfortable to sleep in, no air con but you are provided with a noisy little fan.

There is 1 double socket available but if you are using a plug adapter, only one can be used at any time.
The lights on the corridor are activated by detection so on leaving the lift, wave your arms around for them to come on.

Late Rooms do not charge your credit card, you pay when you leave, this does mean extra cost of daily tax 1.60 per person per day and also fees fore using your card abroad.

We personally would not stay here again, but would return to Krakow, its a beautiful city and well worth a visit, so much to see and do.

TIP - check the exchange rates and dont use the orange kantors around the square they advertise fantastic rates but you have to spend over 4000 to get these, be careful, we used a jewellers.

TIP- if you plan on going to Auschwitz Birkenau, book a private tour before you go, its cheaper and much more personal. I left it to late and went on a standard coach tour, shipped around like sheep in a large group it was awful. Try krakowtours.co.uk, excellent reviews on here.

TIP - salt mines well worth a visit.
