“Very happy with our choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

I've just returned from a 3 night stay at the Spatz and had a fantastic time! The first impression when I got to reception to check in was great. The man and lady at the desk both got up to greet us and we're very friendly and informative regarding breakfast, check outs, if we wanted to book trips they gave info on how to do this and also gave recommendations for restaurants. There are no lifts but the gentleman at reception was more than helpful offering to carry our case.
The rooms were spacious and well heated and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was quite small but the shower was great, I hate it when you get a shower that trickles.
We had breakfast included that was nothing special, standard European but you could also ask for warm stuff as well like fried and scrambled eggs, toast, bacon and sausage, all included in the price.
There were plenty of bars around the hotel and restaurants in a very up and coming area of the city only a 10 min walk to the main square and around 5 to the castle. The location was great the bar in the Mexican restaurant downstairs does amazing cocktails. I think the hotel really made the stay in krakow and I would defiantly recommend you book it!

This is a return visit for us to Krakow, took our grandson this time.
The rooms at the Spratz Hotel are something else. Very spacious, and kept imaculate. Fridge, kettle and tea/coffee facilities, All your toilet facilaties are provided also a very good hairdrier.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
We did ask for the room with the balcony but we were given the room right above it, No. 306, not a problem for us really. Tilt and turn windows so can have one open if needed, and very efficient heating.
Situated in the old part of town and near to many good resturants and shops.
Will definately be going back.
Thankyou to all at the Spratz Hotel for helping us have an enjoyable trip.

Room Tip: The room we were in was large and had all you need in it and the bathroom in the same.

This is a quality hotel, rooms are spacious and very clean, hotel staff are very polite and sevice is excellent, was well looked after and without a doubt will definitely stay here again. In the jewish district so was plenty of bars around and 10/15 minutes walk to the main square so an ideal base to see everything.

Room Tip: Ask for a lower level rooms as there is no lift, but this did not bother us.

I stayed here for 3 nights with a friend back in October. What a fantastic little find! Right in the heart of the Jewish quarter it is central to everything.
The staff are so helpful, polite & professional, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is spotlessly clean, warm & comfortable. The furnishings are bright modern & up to date. Breakfast is in the downstairs Manzana restaurant (see separate review) with plenty of seating & loads of choice. You can also ask to have something hot cooked for you.
The only tiny minor downsides are.......
The curtains are held up with what can only be described as Christmas card pegs so pulling them on resulted in pulling them down - not good trying to put them back after sampling the local vodka & cocktails!!
Not enough tea/coffee/milk on the hospitality tray for two people. Like I said, very minor things but we ended up buying our own as we got tired of asking for more.
I would definitely stay here again & recommend this hotel to everyone. A cracking little place in Krakow!

My wife and I we have visited Krakow in Poland, October 2013 and stayed at the Aparthotel Spatz.
The hotel staff was very polite and helpful
The room was a bit small, but enough for us as a couple, the bathroom OK and clean. The wardrobe small not convenient
No elevator but the guy from the desk is ready to take your luggage to your room, not recommended for older people to stay on higher floors then the first
The dining room OK and a nice nearby bar
Hotel location is good. Located in Kazimierz the old Jewish quarter, not far from the Wawel Castel and the Old City
The walking distance to the Krakow main railroad and bus station is about 25 minutes.
And the price reasonable, charged exactly as indicated on the web site, not additional taxes or fees.
Transportation from the airport to the hotel can be arranged by the hotel, this is unnecessary and expensive. Use the train or bus to Krakow main railroad and bus station, there are shuttles availed as well. From there you can walk through the Old City toward the hotel if it’s a nice day and your luggage is not heavy. You can go by the tram or a taxi, very simple.

Room Tip: No elevator but the guy from the desk is ready to take your luggage to your room, not recommended fo...

Stayed for 3 nights in room 12 which is at the back of the hotel....not a brilliant view but it was nice and quiet. Very comfortable beds and lovely bedding. Hair dryer, shampoo, moisturiser and soap plus the usual tea and coffee facilities. Free mineral water and mini bar with soft drinks only at a price.. Reception very helpful and booked all our trips and transport which was excellent. Breakfast was wonderful. Didn't use the Mexican restaurant which is part of the hotel, but enjoyed a late drink in the very pleasant bar when we returned each evening. Fantastic location and with some amazing bars just around the corner. We would definitely stay again. Great value for money.

This small hotel in Kaszimierz is convenient to visit that part of Krakow and a pleasant walk into the Rynek of Krakow and the castle.
The rooms are sparely decorated but clean but beware if you are on the street as it is noisy if you like to open your window.
When you arrive you walk past the bar and restaurant Manzana which is a real delight , serves great food and has a wonderful ambience. It is not part of the hotel but owned and operated separately-
My real gripe arose when i went for breakfast which is provided by Manzana. Food was good but i was astonished to find that the hotel charged me almost a 50% premium on the restaurants standard charge for breakfasts available to the public. I think this is most dishonest.
I can recommend staying at the hotel but don't include breakfast in your tariff and simply go down to the restaurant and enjoy the same breakfast at a much lower cost.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the rear

Dear JTowies,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback of Spatz Hotel on TripAdvisor.

We always do our best to provide services at the highest level. If, however, you do not feel fully satisfied with your stay at our hotel we are sorry for that.
I would like to apologize for the misunderstanding arising from the mistake at the restaurant. We will try to fix it. I would like to explain breakfast - . Our breakfast is proposed at 7,6 € ( 32 PLN ) per person which //we try to hope // we consider// is not too high since we are proposing :

-Hot drinks (coffee and 7 kind of teas) and juices

-Fresh French viennoiserie (croissants, pains au chocolate, pain aux raisins and brioches au sucre),

- 4/5 Different types of white bread / cereals bread and French toasts,

-Bacon, white ham and smoked ham,

-Yogurts,

- cheeses,

-Different kind of cereals (5 types) of a famous brand,
-Fresh fruits and home made fresh fruit salad,

-jams and honey
-scrambled eggs, omlette, fried eggs (on a ham), toasts, soft-boiled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, sausage - dishes above are included in the price of breakfast.

But of course you can order breakfast from the menu and then you have quite different price and different meal - Mexican breakfast with exp. beans and peppers.
We do not want to cheat our guests so you can always book a room without breakfast and then select the breakfast at the hotel or eat at the center of city. Hotel always offers continental breakfast.
I understand that you feel uncomfortable. We always try to avoid such situations. I am happy that you are forgiving for all small inconvenient. If you take any problems please ask reception desk – we will help you.
We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future.

Kind Regards,
Julia Madej
