Journey - unremarkable flights with Easyjet both ways. We couldn't find the bus 192 to town as referred to in our guidebook, but did find the train station (about five minutes walk to the right) and the shuttle train for the 6 zloty (approx £1.50) 15 minute journey to Krakow main station. We then walked the mile or so to the hotel in the Jewish district.

Hotel - nicely presented and recently refurbished. Rooms are clean and include a flat screen TV with BBC World and a music channel. The bathroom had a shower only, but it was powerful with plentiful hot water, if a little difficult to adjust the angle of spray. This is an "aparthotel" which means they justify not cleaning the rooms or changing towels or linen on the grounds of guest privacy. However, changes can be specifically requested at reception if wanted. We also borrowed a hair dryer from reception.

Breakfast was nice - standard continental fare, with an option for a fresh omelette or scrambled eggs. The hotel bar was also very pleasant with a good range of cocktails, albeit the prices were more expensive than adjacent bars.

The hotel is wel located about a five minute walk from the Wawel castle and 10 minutes from the old town square. It is just north of the centre of the Jewish district.

Overall the hotel is nice, but be aware of the noise highlighted in earlier reviews. I think this is exascerbated by the wooden floors and lack of any doors on the stairs between reception and the rooms. We were also unlucky to be sharing the hotel with an Irish stag party group on the Saturday night who, in the process of drunkenly trying to be quiet must have wakon up the whole hotel at 4am!!!

Days out - we visited Auschwitz independently by train. The journey was quite long (the train went a different route in each direction), but only cost 18 zloty return (approx £5 each). From Auschwitz station we got a taxi to the camp (15 zloty), but it was actualy barely a mile away so we walked back. To walk to the camp turn right out of the station and go to the traffic island and then turn left and follow the road for about 800 meters and the camp is on the left.

Keep and eye out for "free" museum days. When we were there we got free entry to some of the castle exhibits on the Monday - but be aware there are only a number of timed tickets so you will need to get there early.

It was a good weekend break all in all.

This is a great little boutique hotel in the Jewish quarter Kazmierz. It is modern and very clean with new facilities and a modern/trendy bar and restaurant. The facilities are fine, you request room service when you leave your room in the morning, so no early disturbances from housekeeping! There isn't masses of space for hanging/storing clothes, so we lived out of our cases, but this is a minor gripe. No hairdryer either, although you could possible request one from reception. Reception staff spoke very good English, were very friendly and accomodating and were happy to point out directions and had out maps for tourists.

Good value for money and a good breakfast that doesn't finish until 11am, so plenty of time to get up and have breakfast at leisure.

The hotel is just to the south of the main area, about 10 minutes stroll to the main square, passing lots of nice shops and churches, so plenty to look at/places to eat and drink en-route. I wold recommend exploring the Jewish Quarter, there are lots of restaurants and bars only a couple of minutes walk away and it's easy to miss them if you just head straight for the main square each day. Turn left out of the hotel, left again, and then right and you will come to the Alchemia bar - all round here is great for eating and drinking.

We have just returned from a most enjoyable 4 night stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Room service is by request and seemed to be a very sensible option.
The hotel is in a great location and within easy walking distance of all the main points of interest. We would certainly stay again.
