“Really nice place to stay in Krakow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

We spent five days staying at the Piano Guest House in August 2012 and cannot praise it more highly for charm, friendliness and value for money. The breakfasts are excellent too. Its location is within a short walk of the railway station and main shopping centre, while Kracow's market square can be reached in 20 minutes by foot. Alternatively, a cab ride to or from the city centre will cost very little, around £2, The hotel's owner is very charming and could not have been more helpful. We are an English couple with a 7-year old child and found the Piano Guest House very family friendly.

We arrived by train and getting to the B&B can be awkward if you leave the station at the wrong exit, as we did and it took us much longer than the 10 minutes it should have taken. My advice is to walk down the long platform and head in the opposite direction to the city centre. This will lead you to an underpass that connects all the platforms If you end up in the shopping centre you've come out the wrong end). Turn right at the bottom of the underpass and walk underneath the flyover. Turn left and the Piano B&B is just 5 minutes away just past the museum on the right.
We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly owner and her son, and was given a map and details of the sights and recommended areas to visit. We were staying for 4 nights and ordered a double room with en suite. However, we were initially put into a room with 2 singles as the double was not ready. This room was a bit on the poky side, and the beds were small and very low to the ground. The next night we were re located to the room next door which was superior and more spacious. Breakfast was served with a friendly smile and was delicious, sharing one of the two large tables with other guests was also fine. The ONLY thing that spoiled our stay was the noise coming from the adjacent highway and railway line and some loud drunks on the first night. Unfortunately, as it was August and the temperatures high, closing the double glazed windows was not an option.

I totally agree with the many positive reviews about this very pleasant guest house. The warm welcome by the friendly family Platek, the authentic atmosphere, the exuberant breakfast, the tasteful room, the bathroom with the warmest and strongest shower i ever had in a hotel. All these things proved that we (my daughter and I) had picked the best choice for our three nights' stay in Krakow (April 29th - May 2nd). The weather was unusually hot and sunny, Krakow was crowded with tourists. I was amazed about the many good and inexpensive restaurants and the new, three storey large shopping mall next to the train station, which was only a 6 minutes walk from the guest house.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front side can get very warm in summertime, there is no airconitioning or ceiling f...

Having read the review prior to booking this Guest House I was not disapointed at all. The welcome from Ola was warm and informative regarding places to visit and eat. The rooms are very clean, comfy and traditional. The buffet breakfast with fresh ground coffee was plentiful and available to suit you. There simply was nothing that was too much trouble and would recommend these facilities to anybody who wants easy access to transport the city and airport.

The property is in an area that has seen better days and near to the road and train but you cannot hear the traffic in the premises and being close to the train, bus and trams is nothing but a plus.

Highly recommended.

Perfect.

I wanted to go back to Poland (my ancestral home) for my birthday and introduce my husband to its beauty, culture, warmth and cuisine. We could not have chosen a better hotel. We were welcomed with the warmest of smiles and barszcz, just the thing as it was -17°C when we landed! The hotel is beautiful, elegant and comfortable. A 10 minute walk from the city centre and only 5 minutes from the train & bus stations. The lack of TV was a pleasure to us, why do you need one on holiday? Breakfast was the highlight of each day, taking me back to my childhood and reminding me of my beautiful Babka.

Despite being adjacent to a main road, the hotel was extremely quiet and peaceful. We felt relaxed and at home immediately and would recommend it to anyone wishing to experience the true warmth and hospitality of the Polish people so naturally evident in this wonderful family.

We look forward to our return.
