“Basic but very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

This hotel is quite a basic hotel but the location is very good, just ten minutes walk from the main square as well as a few minutes walk from a HUGE shopping centre. The rooms are what you would expect for a budget hotel but the value is very good.
What sets this hotel apart though is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at reception. there are no tea making facilities in the rooms and because we were staying there for a few nights we asked at reception were we could buy a cheap kettle and before we could even finish asking the lady at reception told us we could have the staff kettle. This was unbelievably nice when she could have simply told us were to go to buy one and it really changed are opinion of the city after having a really bad experience in another hotel on the same trip.
I would reccomend staying in this hotel if on a budget as it is certainly better than other places in the same price range but to have staff who are friendly and know the meaning of customer service is priceless.

The guest house Kosmopolita is situated in an old tenant house at 29 Dluga street in the heart of Old Cracow. It is a short walk from the railway station and historical attractions of Cracow: Main Market Square, the historical trade pavilions of the Cloth Hall and The Wawel Castle. The main Market square is believed to be the largest in Europe at 200m x 200m and is lined with great churches and restaurants. If you want to travel the tourist spots in style, there are hundreds of horse and buggy operators, some with magnificent coaches.

Back to the Kosmopolita guest house; we stayed there from Friday 2 September till Monday 5 September 2011. The young lady at reception spoke excellent English – a real plus as we didn't speak a word of Polish! The (Komfort) room was quite adequate and had all facilities in the room. Continental breakfast was included and quite good. The place is quite popular and we noted a good mix of middle aged and younger travellers. Would stay there again if ever we get back to Crakow! There are two nearby restaurants you must visit; Galicyjska and Miod i Wino.
I am reall remiss in that I didn't take any photos in the Kosmo (normally I photograph the room, bathroom, dining room and the outside). I try to make it up with some photos of the two aforementioned restaurants.

Room Tip: The "Komfort" rooms are larger and on the second floor. Top level rooms are under the roof...

Stayed here back in 2010, just when the Vistula river was threatening to overflow oh how fun was that? Anyway Kosmo is centrally located 5 minutes walk from the main train station, 10-15 minutes from Wawel castle and the same for staggering back from the bars of the Stary Miasto. Our room was large, no complaints there, the only gripe was the neighbours blasting out music at 1 in the morning(although I dont blame the hotel for this).
As said breakfast is ok, not a great choice but what there is will do.
I would use this place again if I went to Krakow as it has a good location and the price is ok. The reception staff were helpful too considering Krakow was in imminent danger of a flood. Luckily it didnt happen although it was something to watch whole trees washing along the river from the safety of Wawel castle.

The hotel was friendly, clean and very reasonably priced. The staff at reception could not have been more helpful, they were brilliant. The food was lovely and the rooms were very good for the price. I'd definitely stay here again!

I have just returned from a three night city break staying at Guest Rooms Kosmopolita. I was with a group of seven friends and we all had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms were small but clean and had everything we needed. The bathrooms were nicely tiled and the shower worked great. We were all pleasantly surprised with the selection for breakfast and the hotel staff were helpful in arranging a taxi to take us back to the airport at the end of our stay. I would stay here again and recommend it to my family and friends.

  • Liked — it was clean
  • Disliked — having to use the stairs or lift as reception was on the first floor.

Almost couldn't find it when we arrived, since it is located on the upper floors of a building and doesn't look like a hotel from the street. Which it isn't really - more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel.
Entrance is gained from a buzzer on the street door, though they do give you a front door key for your stay. Facilities are fairly basic, though the rooms are a very high standard - large, clean, good bathroom, and well serviced.
Breakfast is also quite basic - continental style, with a boarding house feel to the dining room.
Staff were very helpful, and the location is very good - just on the edge of the old town, and also walking distance from the train station, which was quite an advantage for us.
Prices for hotels in Krakow are moving up all the time, and the Kosmopolita is still good value if you just want a decent play to stay for a weekend or a couple of days.

I had been staying in Krakow in Hotel Ascot which is great but after travelling throug Poland I needed one night in Krakow before taking my flight back to Brussels and I choose this place for the price and the location and please don't do it!!!!!
Smells awful, horrible treat from the beginning , pigeons on the roof top , beds in bad conditions, dirty covers on the beds,....
Luckily I had to leave at 4 a.m to catch my flight!!!

  • Liked — nothing
  • Disliked — the whole place smells awful and is not really prepared for tourism in 2007
