“Highly Recomended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Krakow is a great place to visit, clean, friendly, safe and cheap. This hotel lies on the river bank offering a lovely view of Warwel castle. Don't be put off by the surrounding area, its totally safe. Small friendly hotel. Clean rooms, clean hotel. Good nights sleep, no noise. Restuarant/Breakfast room takes up all of 1st floor. Must be best continental breaksfast in Poland, big selection and also scrambled eggs if required, on until 11.00am!. Because we were leaving at 7.00am on our last day, staff even packed us a box for breakfast! Shower rooms are 4 star quality. Second floor is being refurbished (Feb 2013) but couldnt see the reason why as all the hotel looks very fresh and clean. Twenty minute walk to the main square but restaurants can be found 10-15 mins away. Local polish diner across the bridge on corenr of main junction (Flisack Bar) where all main courses are under £1 but menu on wall is only in Polish, plastic cutlery but if you want to try local then this is the place!!. There is a free walking tour from the main square at 09.30am for main sites and 14.00 for the Jewish area, but dont tip less than a £5 a person as it's not really fair, this is the guides livelyhood. Its the best way to see all the sites. Auschwitz is a must, although can be hard for some people (mentally, not physically). Trips to Auschwitx are 130ZLT, just book it from your hotel as all the tour shops in town are all same price. Scindlers factory, now a museum, is good for 2nd world war information and worthwhile. Balloon ride near the hotel, you will be able to see it, goes up to about 150 meters for views, is tied to ground so no worries! Theres a fantastic chocolate shop which sells drinks to die for, off one of the turnings from the main square. Main building in the middle of the market square is full of souvenir booths and you can look without being hassled. Can't rate this hotel and Krawow highly enough. Three full days required.

Room Tip: Any roon from 16-20 on 3rd floor has veiw of the river.

A good 3 star hotel with super views of the castle! Staff pleasant and helpful, food good and easy access to all areas of the city. Would visit again, probably early summer to make the most of the river walks and use their rooftop bar. A pity that the entrance and reception area gives a poor impression but the staff gave us a warm welcome.

Just returned from 4 nights in Krakow. Hotel is in a nice peaceful location, looks awful from street but very nice inside, try and get a castle view from your room! Very clean, good selection of food at breakfast, lovely bread rolls. Ignore negative reviews, these kind of people expect 5 star accomodation and food at 2 star prices. The staff are extremely helpful and put us all to shame with their command of English as indeed we found everywhere in Krakow. The hotel is a good 15 minute walk to the main square but it is a beautiful route over either bridge enjoying river and castle views as you go.

We used Krakow Direct for airport transfers, excellent service and booked our trips to the Salt Mine and Auschwitz/Birkenau with MCit (booked through hotel reception). A lot of walking and information to take on board with both tours and would recommend doing them separately as we did. Both trips were well organised and we were picked up and dropped back from hotel, no waiting in queues either, we were in small groups with English speaking guides who knew their stuff. Oscar Schindler's factory is worth a visit too and will prepare you for Auschwitz.

Eating out is very cheap, especially if you eat and drink Polish food and beer.

We met very interesting and friendly people from all nations and would recommend a visit to this city and hotel.

Just had 4 nights at the hotel poleski, what can I say? Great views over the river from the dining room, the rooftop terrace is amazing especially at night with spectacular views of the castle. Breakfast is continental style but there is something for every one (the rolls are lovely and freshly baked). The rooms were pretty basic but nice and clean, the bathroom looked recently refurbished. If you are thinking of going to Auschwitz & birkenau or the salt mines I would highly recommend you book through Krakow shuttle our driver was Michael and he was lovely, they pick you up and drop you off at your hotel or wherever you want at a very reasonable price.

Excelent hotel for a 3 star rating.
Very friendly and helpful staff, who all speak english (my polish goes to please and thankyou only).
10 min walk from the market square, uphill (paved, slight to moderate in part) on the way but once you have had a drink / food / been sight seeing, that works out on the way back.
As mentioned by others does not look impresive from the outside, enclosed to the rear with other buildings, from over the river looks good.
Comments about requiring TLC seam to me to regard the odd case scuff mark on hall / door way walls, magnolia so inevitable and who cares!
Inclusive breakfast is continental and extensive for such in its options , with scrambled eggs and frankfurter (I like, but not for all I know) type sasuages as a hot option. The (very) fresh warm rolls & coffee were frankly good enough for me on their own though!
Having said that the hotel itself is not a masterpiece of architecture, the view of the castle over the river from the room is simply amazing!
Reception can book you trips to all the local sights with pick up from the door at very good prices.
Very close to some of the newer attraction, the city view ballon and the floating bar / restaurants.
The only disapointrment was that the rooftop bar was not open, but it was late in the season (nice before dinner but a little cool after) and occupancy appeared to be low, so I can fully understand that.
The hotel has no pool or gym (how wants the latter on holiday! and not the destination type for a pool in my opinion anyway, hence the average rating for something that is not there).
Overall thoroughly recomended.

Room Tip: We had room 8, on the second floor corner, excellent! the room on the third floor directly above (no...

The hotel has beautiful location overlooking river and castle. The restaurant is very pretty and food good and reasonably priced. Breakfast is adequate. The roof top bar is lovely. Staff very polite although very young. The room had a side river view - a nice seating area with fridge and bed was clean and big. The bathroom was brand new and lovely. However this hotel has yellowish carpets in bedrooms and communal areas and they are really disgusting - such a shame when the rest was such good value. The tv was as old as me and should also be retired! And if you stay here pack a plug for sink - non of us staying had one! I would stay again but insist on a clean floor - 3 star does not equal dirty and this place could be 4 star with a little tlc.

Room Tip: We asked for river view and did not get one right away so insist on it. This is the main attraction...

Just spent 3 nights at this hotel. When arriving it does not look impressive. Reception is ground floor. 1st floor house the restaurant for both breakfast and daytime and evening meals. This restaurant has fantastic views of the river Wisla. Also the famous Wawel Castle is right opposite on the opposite river bank. 2nd and 3rd floors are the guests bedrooms. Very roomy with excellent modern bathroom. Again most rooms overlook the river. One downside is that although the hotel is very clean, the carpets in the bedrooms as well as the landings, are in dire need of refurbishment. The 4th floor is another treat. This if the rooftop terrace bar which again has fantastic views over the rivver. Breakfast is above average and could not fault the restaurant food. Prices are so so cheap compared to the UK. Polish ' pint' 8 Zloty (£1.65) Latte 10 Zloty (£2.05). Staff are very friendly and helpful. The main square is across the river and takes about 20 minutes at a leisurely walk. Or feeling lazy? take a taxi to the Main Square for 17 Zloty (£3.50).

Room Tip: Rooms 4,5,6 & 7 0n 2nd floor ( plus others, but not sure of room numbers) have river views. Not...
