“Perfect hostel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

My friends and I stayed here for two days and loved the place. It's a great central base for anyone looking to be in the heart of the city. The staff are great and very friendly, they are very informative and helpful. We were able to book all the trips we were looking for at the front desk which was great. They offer some great deals for food and it's was very tasty. Our room was very clean and homely. We soon got talking to the more of the guests as the bar area is perfect for mingling with people but still offers quiet spots for guests who are looking for a quieter time. All in all very nice place, would recommend this place to all.

Bit late with the review but might help someone. have stayed here a few times including Jan 2010 when it seemed like the ice age had returned, it was always nice to get back to our warm and welcoming home at greg tom.the hostel is a ten minute walk from the main square but in an ideal spot for easy access to the main shopping mall, train and bus stations. It is a great base for exploring the area and beyond.have always stayed in a private room abnd no complaints whatsoever.
the airport train is very cheap.although i have heard it isn't running at the moment (Jan 14)
if you can spare say 6 nights, spend 2 in Krakow...take the bus to Zakopane in the Tatra mountains about 3 hrs away for around £4 and spend 2 nights there..cheaper accomodation, half the price of Krakow, cheap food and fantastic scenery...take the funicular railway up Gubalowka hill one day and the mini bus from town then the cable car up the 7000ft mountain Kasprowy wierch in the Tatras..then a short walk to the summit...exhilarating. The town will be lively and full of skiers if the snow has hung around.
..Head back to Krakow and then take a bus the next morning to Auschwitz, Birkenau...a must see and a humbling experience...free admission and a cheap bus rid from Krakow bus station ..an alternative is the salt mine and the sculptures. must see sights in Krakow include Wawel castle, the Jewish ghetto, Schindler building and the area around the main square. eat where the locals do...it is edible and very cheap.

If you have made your way to krakow you may be tempted by one of the cheaper hostels at first but paying the little bit extra is well worth it at this hostel. I have never written a review before because the effort was too much but i made a point of logging on to spread the word about this place.

At first a beautiful Polish receptionist named Olga sat us down in the very tastefully decorated lounge room (which had dvds, video games, computer and small library) and explained everything about the hostel and the town. She told us all the great places that only locals would know about and recommended all the best sites. All her advice was dead right and she made us feel right at home.

The best part about this hostel is that the Breakfast and Dinner is included (while i was there they also had FREE BEER with dinner) and unlike most hostels who use this as a lure to attract young unsuspecting travellers and then offer them stale bread and margarine for breakfast, the menu here is tasty, nutritious and satisfying. Each night is different and its hot, home cooked meals.

This is without a doubt the best RELAXED hostel experience I've ever had, it felt more like staying at the house of a good friend who is a chef and has excellent taste in decorating.

Modern, clean, tasteful, intimate, Staff are friendly and relaxed, Food is amazing.... It's like every need has been anticipated and every expectation exceeded.

Room Tip: If you are travelling as a couple, try to get the private room for only 5PZL more. Great value and p...

The Hostel is in a perfect position, just in front of the central station.
The structure is perfect, rooms are very clean, pratically new, with a great breakfast and dinner included , and every evening there is FREE BEER in the living room (i have never seen this somewhere else!!!!) .
The staff is fantastic, everybody is kind and nice!!!
For me, the best hoster ever!!! I will recommend for all my friends that are planning to go to Krakow!

The staff at Greg & Tom are really friendly, providing useful information about getting around the city and are always available to answer our questions. The hostel is located near the train station and the city centre, which made navigation really easy and convenient. The reception area is clean, modern and well-designed; and the rooms are generally kept tidy as well. Really enjoyed our stay there!

Ok, so first off there are two Greg and Tom hostels, one is located near to the train station and the other is located in the town, however both are close to each other and yes, they are run by the same person. The one we stayed was the one located near to the station. Right so from the outside its looked like a prison (lol) don't let this put you off, its a great hostel. We had a private room and it was big and spacious and had huge windows. Also came with a TV and you could rent dvds! Awesome! This hostel is quieter and more relaxed and only provides shared bathroom facilities and although overall looks a little tired, the staff are brilliant and I would def stay here again. The other one, that we visited for a drink one day is more a party hostel, so if you are looking to meet other travelers and somewhere that is more lively, then this is the place for you. This hostel has been newly refurbished to a high standard and is very funky looking. I cant comment on the rooms, but the downstairs bar area is very nice and they have a garden. The also offer live music in the evenings which was extremely entertaining. I would stay at either again.

The hostel by itself has a really good structure , all very clean, new, with a wonderful breakfast and dinner included. Also, the staff is the best staff ever. They are so funny and crazy. Besides the free beer time :) I have travel a lot in Europe, and for sure this was my best experience in a hostel!
