Getting There
Get a free shuttle bus from the airport to the nearby, tiny railway station. We waited only a few minutes for the train which took about 15 minutes to get to the main Krakow Train Station. It cost 6 PLN (1 PLN = 0.27 Euro) and we bought our tickets on the train. Andels Hotel is situated about 100 m from the station on the other side of a newly-developed, pedestrianised and very attractive plaza.
Location
The hotel is a comfortable, pleasant 10-minute walk from Krakow's main square. Right next to the hotel there is a brand new 4 storey shopping centre, Galleria Krakova, with over 250 shops and restaurants, including a supermarket.
Bedroom
The double bed was about 7 feet square. There was a large, flat-screen TV and a Philips DVD player: bring your own DVDs and don’t forget “Schindler’s List”, which was set and filmed in Krakow.
I asked for, and got, a room with shower and bath. All rooms have shower but not all have a bath. Clear glass partitions surround the shower and WC: don’t walk into them.
There was a safe and mini-bar in the bedroom.
Food
Breakfast was a buffet, with a wide and tasty choice of cereals, fruit, cheeses, yogurt, hot and cold meats and several varieties of bread. It was eaten in a ground-floor dining-room overlooking the plaza. There are some tables outside.
We had lunch and dinner in the hotel, too. Here, the food was good but the choice was very limited. There are, however, many good restaurants within 10 minutes walk in the town.
Service
Service was friendly, polite, helpful, professional and efficient.
General
The hotel was brand new and designed and decorated in an attractive, ultra-modern manner. If the price is within your budget then book it: you won’t get better.
