“Twelve good men”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

Great statues outside a church which is freezing inside even on a summer day. look out for the bronze relief model of the church and street next to the statues. Make good photo shots.

“A fine Baroque Church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2011

The Church of St Peter and St Paul stands facing a small square with statues of the 12 apostles forming the boundary between the church and the road. Situated on the Royal Road (Grodzka Street) between the main square and Wawel Castle, you can't miss the imposing facade! The church was the first in the Baroque style in Poland and the architect modelled it on the famous Jesuit church, Il Gesu, in Rome. Although the interior decoration is not as exuberant as some of the churches of this style (St Nicolas in the Old Town Square in Prague for instance) it is a very refined and classically inspired interior with touches of Baroque decoration. You could also visit the interior of the church when you attend one of the regular concerts held here in the evenings by the Orchestra of the City of Krakow - a very talented band of musicians! You can book tickets in advance from the tourist information offices or buy them on the door. But be warned - the church is unheated so wrap up warm if you go to a concert during the winter months!
