“Short walk to the main square and castle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2010

Very nice hotel just a short walk to everything. Rooms were comfortable but not fancy.
Breakfast was healthy and a good start to the day. Internet and computer use very cheap Front desk were very helpful and security staff worked when there was a drunk naked man in the hallway late one night. Parking available close by or on the street.

We chose Wielopole based on the location and the photos on the website. It wasn't exactly cheap - 100 euro a night - but the whole experience was worth every single cent.

First of all, the location - it was great, just a 3-min walk to Old Town Square and a comfortable, straight forward 10-min walk to the train station. It was really easy to locate.

When we arrived, we were immediately made to feel welcomed by Kamil, the affable and enthusiastic young man at the reception. We were very early; we got there at 8am. But Kamil found us a room and let us check in with no fuss at all. On top of that, he was always ready to help with a smile, be it making a reservation at restaurant or giving us tips on where to go and what to eat (he introduced us to yummy and traditional Polish foods) - he's just wonderful! Kamil alone makes staying at the Wielopole truly memorable.

The room didn't disappoint either - it was tastefully furnished and very clean and comfortable - exactly like what we saw in the photos! It had air-conditioning and best of all it was quiet at night. We slept soundly throughout.

The breakfast was so-so. The spread was not as wide as what we had at other hotels and there was no coffee machine. Still, the food was fresh and enough to sustain us for the long day ahead.

We will definitely stay at Wielopole if we visit Krakow again and totally recommend it to anyone who visits.

This is a very pleasant hotel in an excellent position, within easy walking distance of all the major places to visit and on the tram routes if it's raining. The hotel is spotless and the staff are charming and very helpful. We would gladly visit again. Facilities are good with free wifi (ask at reception for the code) and free tea and coffee always available. Our only reservation was about the size of our room. It was very small so the double bed had to be crammed so close to the wall on one side that it was difficult to get in and both reading lights were controlled by a single switch that could only be reached from one side. Another time we would book one of the superior rooms to get more space - we saw the one next to us and it was great. The extra cost is small. Despite this, we would recommend the Wielopole unhesitatingly

Very small hotel but spotlessly clean, great reception staff and modern pleasant interior. In a perfect location, 5 minutes from the main market square and only 10 minutes to the Jewish quarter. Between 5-10 minutes to the main railway station. We only had one complaint for an otherwise great hotel - the young girls serving/clearing at the breakfast buffet were very rude. There is a sign saying you should ask if you want toast (would be much easier to put a toaster out to self-serve). The girls are very reluctant to help and one morning we had to ask three times. They much preferred to stand behind the bar staring at the guests and giggling, which we found off-putting. Shame as otherwise we loved this hotel.

We were moved to this hotel after their sister hotel had problems. Enjoyed stay - very helpful staff who seemed to know us personally, even through we only stayed 3 nights, good continental breakfast spread. Excellent location within easy walking to all of city centre.

Negatives: small room - we had difficulty finding space to open our suitcases out and curtains weren't blackout so woken by light in the morning.

Excellent hotel. Clean & comfortable, good value for money. The rooms are lovely, breakfast great and very centrally located. The very best thing about this hotel is the staff! Thank you so much for making my stay so pleasant.

Just returned from a 4 night break in Krakow & can really recommend the Wielopole as a base. The staff are very friendly & happy to advise where to eat, visit etc. The room was very clean & spacious, large bathroom with excellent shower (no bath). Breakfast was included & was a choice of cereals, scrambled eggs & continental sausage, cold meats & cheeses, breads, pancakes & fresh fruits, tea, coffee & fruit juices. If you leave the hotel in the morning feeling hungry - it's your own fault!!

The hotel is located just 5mins walk from the main town square, so is ideally situated. The old Jewish quarter is also a walkable distance away
