After a long day spent travelling my wife and myself were looking forward to having dinner in our hotel - but were quickly disappointed to find out that the only restaurant had been completely given over to a large tour group.
So, not yet acquainted with our surroundings, we had no choice but to seek sustenance elsewhere and after a leisurely 10 minute stroll stumbled across the Pieciolinia Smakow.
It turned out to be a real piece of good luck. Immediately upon entering we were warmly welcomed and shown to a lovely table for two next to a window overlooking the street, then duly handed the menus for our perusal. At our leisure we eventually chose warm garlic bread, salmon soup with onions, tomatoes and parsley, bread with basil and main courses of fried sole served with french fries, boiled vegetables in jus comprising of carrots, broccoli and cauliflower.
To accompany the dinner we selected an excellent bottle of Italian dry white wine and finished off with an expresso coffee.
The food was beautifully cooked and presented, although we both thought the sole was a little lacking in flavour. It was, however, the first class service that made the meal as the very friendly and courteous waiter was excellent. He spoke very good English and informed us that he had spent 6 years working in Wales. He is no doubt a great asset to the restaurant.
To sum up, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and considered the cost of 171.00 euros plus a gratuity really superb value for money.
In our opinion a visit is highly recommended.
