“Not too pretty on the outside but....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2007

We stayed at the Sheraton for two nights in March. The hotel was excellent with a very good location, right on the river.
The hotel itself is not much to look at from the outside but the room was very good with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.
The room was large, clean and well decorated. The mini-bar was about the most reasonably priced that I have come across in a first class hotel. Breakfast was very good too.

We have recently stayed at the Hotel Sheraton for my husbands 50th birthday, we had a brilliant time, the hotel was excellent, the rooms were roomy we had a lovely view over the river, all the staff were very friendly and very helpful, the breakfast was excellent lots of choice, also the Someplace Else bar was fab, they did good food and the price wasn't expensive either.

A good time was had by all, we will definitely go back..

My husband and I stayed here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and we were thrilled with this hotel. Everything is simply perfect. The rooms are good size, with very comfy beds and we had a good view too.Since it was Easter when we were there, we came back to find chocolate bunnies in room which was nice.

I would definately recommend the steak at the Somewhere Else Bar. The cocktails are yummy too. Yes, it is slightly more expensive than the rest of Krakow but I thought it was great having this on your doorstop to get very drunk in and roll straight in to bed.

Service at the reception, the bars and at breakfast was faultless. You will not regret staying here.

What a fantastic hotel! Stayed for two nights so could visit Auschwitz (don't bother pre-booking this trip as it appeared to be cheaper to let the Hotel organise it on arrival 120zl with Krakow Tours). Hotel car picked us up from the airport, 80zl, and had brief lesson in important Polish words from driver, very useful. Due to an early flight arrived hotel at about noon, but staff were very accomodating and changed our rooms so we could check in. Rooms very spacious and comfortable, but think it is worth paying the extra to get a delux room, which I think gets you a view of the river.
Staff were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, even down to the concierge calling around Krakow to see if they sold a certain brand of smokes for one of our party.
Food in "some place else" very good value and plenty of it, and food in Olive exceptional and reasonably priced for a five star hotel. Breakfast is amazing, everything from smoked salmon to wonderful smoothies, and full english to pro-botic drinks. Would highly recommend breakfast, as we ate so much we needed no lunch.
Location of hotel, also I think is the best you can get, right on the river and next door to Wawel Castle, and only a short ten minute pleasant stroll down to the square.
As you may be able to tell, I loved Krakow, completely not what I expected, and my stay at the Sheraton will certainly persuade me to pay the extra in future and stay in luxury and style.

Stayed at the Sheraton, Krakow for a long weekend in mid-March. This hotel excels in every department and I could find absolutely nothing to complain about. Superb concierge service will help you with everything short of giving you the winning Lotto numbers! Hotel's location is good, being on the banks of the Vistula and adjacent to Wawel Castle and an easy ten minute walk to the Market Square or Rynek Glowny.
Food in the hotel's main restaurant is excellent. This restaurant is in the hotel's atrium and gives the impression of dining outdoors and is a charming atmosphere. Faultless food combined with impeccable service is the hallmark of this restaurant.
A less formal eating experience can be had in the sports bar called SPE or Some Place Else! Less formal for every bit as good.
The hotel has several chauffeur driven Mercedes cars in its fleet and these are available at a cost that is only very marginally more expensive than a regular taxi. They are to be thoroughly recommended. We used one to take our party to Auschwitz and the driver, Adam, was exceptionally accommodating and helpful throughout the very moving visit, suggesting that we return to the city by minor rural roads so that we could capture the flavour of the countryside sorrounding Krakow.
I have to mention a final touch that will perhaps exemplify the extent to which the staff int his hotel will go to please their customers. Our flight was leaving Krakow at 6.00 a.m. and hence our checking out of the hotel at 4.00 a.m. We were not allowed to leave the hotel until a breakfast pack was prepared for every member of the party and beautifully packaged as we would be missing the formal buffet breakfast for which we had paid - I found this to be quite remarkable. The breakfast packs were bountiful with fruit juice, yoghurt, cold meats, cheese, fresh fruit, mineral water and several types of fresh bread.
This hotel is quite simply superb - its raison d'etre and that of its staff is to do everything possible to please its guests and in my opinion it does so one hundred and ten per cent. If visiting Krakow, a wondrous city, do not contemplate staying anywhere else if you wish to experience excellence.

We stayed in the Sheraton for 3 nights for our wedding anniversary.
An early flight meant that we arrived at the hotel mid morning and our room wasn't ready. This was quickly resolved and we were in our room within the hour, to find a bottle of champagne, grapes and chocolate covered strawberries, courtesy of the management for our anniversary.
The room was a good size and was nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable, and the room very quiet.
There were a number of British speaking TV channels incl BBC World. BBC Prime, CNN and Channel 5. Bathroom was small but adequate.
Facilities in the hotel were good although it would have been nice to be able to join my husband in the sauna (separate male and female).
Small indoor pool.
Hubbie and I both had a massage which was excellent and worth the 160 zl pp.
Staff were polite and helpful, esp the concierge (Monika) who was very good.
Made the mistake of using the hotel taxi on one occasion (3 x price of ordinary taxis). Although taxis are very cheap there (and reliable), still was unhappy about paying over the odds with the hotel taxi.

We only had breakfast in the hotel so can't comment on anything else, however, breakfast was plentiful, varied and good. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive.

The Sheraton is about 10 mins walk from the main market square (a little further than the Radisson) but is still well located for both the square and for the Jewish District and would definately stay again!

We ate well in Krakow:
Miod Malina (Polish/Italian) Good hearty and inexpensive
Wierzynek (Polish) Expensive by Polish standards but not by UK standards)
Leonardo (Italian) Inexpensive
Klezmer-Hois (Jewish - not supervised) Inexpensive

Stayed here for three nights midweek in March 2006 to coincide with a visit to Auschwitz .

Wonderful hotel, pleasant staff, lovely room, nice food, good value also (although maybe not for Krakow).
