“Nice hotel, had to negotiate for platinum upgrade”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

Just returned from a visit to Krakow to retrieve daughter who was studying there. I was a bit surprised how hard it was to find a room at the Sheraton or several other hotels until I realized the soccer teams were staying there that week. I called the Platinum concierge line and they booked me a room using award points for the Club Level.

When I arrived, I was told I had been upgraded to a "Studio," although that room type is not described anywhere on the hotel website. I asked about a suite and was told no junior suites were available. We kept talking, and then I was told I could pay an extra 1600pln (over $500 a night) for a suite. After much back and forth, they finally agreed they had a suite and I could have it since I had paid 8500 points a night instead of the standard 7000 points a night because of the special events.

The room was actually very nice- two win beds, a couch and desk area, plenty of storage. I was happy to find a safe in the room to leave my computer when I went out. The bathroom had a combination tub/shower that was clean and looked like a nice soaking tub.

The Club Lounge was usually pretty empty, but provided a nice respite. During the day they offered a variety of small snacks, and sodas, water, beer and wine. For breakfast they offered cereal, pastries and yogurt. The coffee/espresso machine functioned all day. In the evening they put out a few appetizers including a nice variety of bruschetta.

If you do not have status or a Club Room, the internet access is relatively expensive at 59pln for 24 hours. The speed was ok, not great, but it worked. There is free wifi in the lobby and lounge, and there are computers and printers in both places, as well.

We did not try the restaurant given all the great dining choices all around nearby, but the prices in the hotel restaurant were much higher than the local restaurants and bars nearby. For example, a glass of wine might be 20pln at the hotel, versus 8-10pln nearby. The prices were not high by hotel standards, just compared to the good local stuff right down the street.

The location is great- right on the river by Wawal Castle, so an easy walk to everything. Many tours will pick you up at the hotel if you want some guided help. Getting to the hotel was easy- a cab at the airport offered to take me in for 19pln a person, the same price as the train. Getting back to the airport, most cabs seemed to want in the 75pln range, but we opted for a hotel car service (in a nice black mercedes) for 80pln charged to the room.

The service was great all around, you just have to know to ask for things, like the upgrade. That seemed to be the case in general in Krakow. Overall, a very nice hotel- clean, convenient and centrally located. I would go there again.

We stayed here on Starwood points and upgraded to conscierge floor. Our room was fabulous, the room service terrific and we highly recommed it for payment or points. Breakfast was excellent as well as everything else about the hotel, cleanliness, service and location!

We stayed at Sheraton for 2 nights. We had a nice big and clean room. The hotel has a nice facilities with a restaurant, fitness center, parking etc. The service is good. The breakfast is really good. The hotel is good located as well. You will get there everything you expect from the 5 stars hotel. Anyway the WiFi is not free at your room. For useing internet at your room you will be charged extra. The internet is free only around the reception and the restaurant. The prices at the hotel bar for example are really high comparing to the prices in the city centre of Cracow or another accomodations there. We have enjoyed staying at Sheraton, but comparing the prices of Sheraton with another good hotels in Cracow we stayed before we do not think we will be back. It is just overpriced if you think about Polish prices and reality and another posibilities in Cracow.

My wife and travelled to Krakow for a long weekend and stayed at this hotel. It is perfectly located with just a 10 minute stroll to the main square, with great views of the castle and the river. I upgraded to a superior room at a small cost which was worthwhile. On the day of check in the Hotel Director left some fresh fruit and Proscetto in the room which was a nice touch.

There is a nice restaurant and bar located in the atrium and also a great sports bar linked which serves huge portions.

We ordered a taxi from the uk to pick us up at the airport and, to be honest, was a bit disappointing as it was a very old vehicle and smelt of stale smoke. On the way back to the airport the hotel arranged this for us at the same cost in a brand new Mercedes, so probably worth asking the hotel if they can arrange for you.

Would recommend Krakow and this hotel to all.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view, we stayed in 311 which was great

I'va stayed one night in Sheraton and I had to move to another Hotel. I've paid so much many and I had to pay extra charge for internet access!!!!! it's impossible in USA. I've spent 1 hour in lobby because only there net was for free.

I had nice room, but for this price should be nice.
