“Good base for seeing Krakow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

We booked a cheap 3 day getaway through a 3rd party travel company and were given this hotel. We were a little concerned about being out of town but the trams were a breeze once we got them figured out - catch the no 18 tram to Basztowa stop (tram stops are just outside the hotel, you want the tram stop facing towards the hotel with trams heading to the right) and the start of the Royal Way through the Old Town is just a little way down the road to your right, or you can turn left onto Matejki street and right onto Kurniki street to catch the 304 bus to the salt mine or to go through the Galeria Krakowska mall to the train/coach station. Trams are always busy though and you'll likely have to stand.

The room (and hotel in general) are dated, but clean and comfortable. As others have mentioned there were no hot drink making facilities, we found it strange that these weren't provided. If you do spend any time in your hotel room, there is an English news channel on the TV (also a German music channel which plays mainly UK/US music). We were on the 4th floor and the (huge) window opened entirely, lovely for us as adults as we could quickly cool the room if it got a bit stuffy but something to be wary of if you are travelling with kids.

The bathroom was spacious and very clean, with a decent shower.

We ate in the hotel restaurant once, there were very limited options for my vegetarian friend with no vegi main courses (this is likely symptomatic of many restaurants in Poland and not a specific failing of this hotel - when we ate elsewhere there were also limited vegi options). However on enquiring the staff made cheese toasted sandwiches and chips, which my travelling companion said were very tasty. Like many hotel restaurants, this one was almost empty and devoid of any kind of atmosphere, but the food was nice. Not a bad place to eat if it is the end of a long day and you can't face heading back out into town to find a restaurant.

Overall this hotel was fine for the price we paid for the trip.

We spent there 5 days in February 2013. Rooms are clean and nice size. The swimming pool is not very big and the towels hotel provides are small (hand towel size) and look old. Breakfast is very nice, staff helpful and friendly. Food in the restaurant is nice. I don't know why, but i had a feeling, I could smell cigaretes in the corridor. Although the hotel is a bit further away from the centre, there is a very good connection to get there. Trams leave just from outside of the hotel and it takes less than 20 minutes to get to main tourist attractions. 24h Tesco is just 2 minutes walk.

i stayed here with my partner in Feb 2013, on a cheap weekend break in order to see Krakow and Auschwitz.
it was great value, rooms fine and quite big, there wasnt any tea or coffe making facilities in the room, but the reception organised it for a cost of about £4.00 for our entire stay, which was great! we used the pool, it was small but fine for a quick dip, the sauna was good too.
we organised a trip to see auschwitz and the salt mines in one day via auschwitz-krakow tours, Adam collected us from our hotel promptly and we tracelled the 1 hr 15 min journey in a nice mini bus, he put on a dvd about auschwitz and the salt mines on a portabloe dvd player, which passed the journey time. he purchased our tickets and took all the trouble out of the trip!
very informative weekend, i would recommend this hotel and tour company.
Yes, the hotel isnt in the centre, but thats all the more fun!

I stayed here with my husband in January 2013 for two nights. The rooms were very reasonably priced and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were also very helpful.

Please do be aware that this hotel is not in the centre of Krakow, however, it was easy to catch a tram to and from but you definitely could not walk. I also didn't see a lot of restaurants nearby- one night we ate in town and another night we purchased items from Tesco (directly across the road).

The location is not a problem as the rooms are so well priced. Definitely would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights last week. The rooms are comfortable ,plenty of space and very clean. The restaurant is excellent and like most eating in Poland very cheap. The breakfast is really good
The hotel is 5 kms from the city center, trams are available but taxis are so cheap. We really enjoyed the stay and the staff were very friendly and helpful

I arrived at Sympozjum hotel from the city center by tram at night. Unfortunately, I did not realize that trams 12 & 18 were undergoing maintenance at the time, so I had to take an alternate tram 19 instead, which was about a 7 minute walk from the tram stop to the hotel. As others have already stated, the hotel location is about a 15 to 20 minute tram ride to the city center and is next to the huge Tesco supermarket. The hotel room was basic (in comparison with other 4 star hotels that I have stayed in) with standard TV channels mostly in Polish language and complimentary internet access. A nice buffet breakfast was included in the hotel price, and customer service at reception was great (English language was well spoken).

I`v been at this hotel during the New Year 2013, three days. Hotel is good, room was very clean and comfortable, nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, very good food with lot of different things, changing every day.Staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was also nice. Swimming pool is small but pleasant, three saunas and a jacuzzi. The location is 20 minutes by tram from the city center with a tram 52 or 18 and ticket is cheap, and trams are frequent right in time (20 min.) Krakow is well worth a visit anytime, and make a visit to salt mine Wieliczka, and Auschwitz-Birkenau.
