“Ideal for those on a budget and do not mind commuting back and forth to the city center”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

I arrived at Sympozjum hotel from the city center by tram at night. Unfortunately, I did not realize that trams 12 & 18 were undergoing maintenance at the time, so I had to take an alternate tram 19 instead, which was about a 7 minute walk from the tram stop to the hotel. As others have already stated, the hotel location is about a 15 to 20 minute tram ride to the city center and is next to the huge Tesco supermarket. The hotel room was basic (in comparison with other 4 star hotels that I have stayed in) with standard TV channels mostly in Polish language and complimentary internet access. A nice buffet breakfast was included in the hotel price, and customer service at reception was great (English language was well spoken).

I`v been at this hotel during the New Year 2013, three days. Hotel is good, room was very clean and comfortable, nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, very good food with lot of different things, changing every day.Staff were friendly and helpful. The spa was also nice. Swimming pool is small but pleasant, three saunas and a jacuzzi. The location is 20 minutes by tram from the city center with a tram 52 or 18 and ticket is cheap, and trams are frequent right in time (20 min.) Krakow is well worth a visit anytime, and make a visit to salt mine Wieliczka, and Auschwitz-Birkenau.

We stayed there 3 nights from 17th-20th January. It's a nice clean hotel and the food in the restaurant is good. It is outside the city centre but a taxi from the central square was only 25 Zloty, so about £5 or £6 ish.

Good place, worth staying at.

My friend and I stayed in this hotel for three nights between 13 and 16 January. The rooms are clean and tidy and perfectly adequate as a place to lay your head. It's not what I would consider a four star hotel, but it suited our purposes.

The staff were very helpful. We arranged a trip of Auschwitz and a city tour through the reception staff. It was quick and easy, with pick ups from the hotel for both trips.

The hotel is some way from the city centre, but there's a tram stop right outside it. The tram is cheap (2.8 or 3.8 zloty), quick and easy to use, so the location wasn't an issue.

Stayed here as a couple from 2-5 Jan 2013. The hotel is not in the centre of Krakow but saying that the tram service into the city was excellent and only took about 15 minutes. Rooms were a good size and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was ok and there was hot and cold food. The bar was good and reasonably priced and Martin behind the bar was very good in recommending places to eat and visit. Reception staff very helpful and excellent English.

There are no restaurants local to the hotel that we could find and we didn't eat at the hotel as we stayed out in the city until late. Always felt safe when walking around the city and to and from the hotel.

If visited again we would pay a bit extra and stay in the centre - but saying that this would depend on price and we would still consider staying here.

I stayed here for 2 night to explore Krakow. The staff were very friendly and efficient . Rooms were very clean, if a little dated, bathroom was spotless and modern. The breakfast was very good, range of cereals, eggs cheese, tea and coffee. Slightly out of main town but a taxi was only 20pln (around £5) into town. If you want to try a great polish restaurant on the main square , try Wasele. Excellent food. Must see Kazimierz the old Jewish quarter and Auschwitz-Birkanau. The hotel can arrange trips for you. Would definitely come again.

Our visit to Krakow was for the New Year's Eve vacation.
We were 8 people and got 4 double rooms.
Overall the staying in this hotel was good. The staff is very helpful and nice, some of our friends arrived earlier (as in 6 in the morning) and they were given the keys to their rooms, although the check in started at 14:00.
We had rooms at level 4 and so we did not have anyone above us so i don't know how you hear the upside neighbors (we enjoy the privacy and silence when we travel because a vacation is supposed to be a moment of relaxation).
The only thing bothering us to this hotel was the doors which had a device that allowed you to slam it when ever it closed. So it was kind of stressful when all the other guests came and got out of their rooms. Even the board of the bed was shaking when a door closed.
I know how this may look but it was really annoying.
The breakfast was a good one, they had all kinds of things to choose from: omelet, sausages, fish, gems, hams, cereals. I liked it because it was so diversified. What i did not like was that they did not have fruits.
The rooms were clean, they changed the towels and vacuumed if you let them, but i did not see them change the bed sheets as the flyer in the rooms said.
The spa was kind of small, the pool appears to be large but in fact it's not and the water is not very clean. The jacuzzi is like a hot tub that you can buy at a supply store, and the water is also not very clean. In the last day of the year the area to the pool closed really early.
Near the hotel there is a large supermarket and we could get from there to the center of the city in about 5 minutes, by car. It's not very far away and it;s also close to some of the tourist attraction, like Schindler's Factory.
Overall i liked the hotel, we had a nice staying, but i don't think we will come back to the same hotel if we ever return to Krakow.

Room Tip: the top rooms are quieter i think
