“Good value and a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

It's hard to imagine a better spot to be for exploring Krakow's wonderful Old Town. Globtroter is on your own quiet square just 2 minutes from the bustling main square, where the activity and people-watching is always interesting. Szczepanska Square has kids playing in the fountain, the Charlotte cafe across for coffee, breads and homemade jams in the morning, and I'd recommend the Polski Smaki restaurant just left out the Globtroter's door on sw. Tomasza. Also just steps away from the nice Planty park that circles the Old Town.
If you want to pay more for a useless fancy lobby, this isn't your kind of place. I found the Globtroter to be just right - a clean, comfortable room with congenial and helpful advice from the front desk and very reasonable rates. Email arrangements were easy and prompt replies, with helpful links and good maps. It was an easy walk from the Krakow train station or a taxi would get you there in 5 minutes. The Wifi was fast and reliable.
As others have mentioned, the bar that shares the entry hallway is really no problem. My room was right across from the club, I stayed Friday and Saturday nights and heard nothing. Better than being on the main square and hearing the trumpet call every hour of the day and night (could still hear it faintly from here).
All in all, the Globtroter does a nice job of providing what a traveler needs for great 'home base' to explore and get to know the real Krakow, rather than being insulated from it.

We wanted to be in the centre and could not have been better located! Just 50 meters off the main square, but in a quiet setting (don't let the club at the entrance change your mind, we heard absolutely nothing during the night) with spacious, clean rooms, a nice porch looking down on greenery and very good price. We can only recommend this place and will definitely come back if we are in Krakow again!

Room Tip: best room, on the 2nd floor, facing the building entrance

This is located down a hallway, and past a late night bar, past a locked door and through a courtyard. 2 keys were needed to get through at times. I paid extra to have a larger room, though I was solo. This is no frills, with a few hangers on a rung in the room. If you want coffee or tea more than one morning, you have to pay extra for another packet, which I thought was a little cheap. The staff was nice, and they set up a side trip for me, Also allowed me to have my train tickets delivered there. It was very close to the main square, and I felt safe enough there.

This is an excellent place to stay in Krakow. It is two blocks off the stunning Main Market Square in a little alcove off the street. It has a quiet balcony overlooking a small garden that you can relax in after a long day of walking. Room and bathroom were clean, Peter at the front desk was always helpful with advice and directions, and there is a car park about 10 minutes away if you’re driving. And for such a central location, the price was right – this is where I’ll be staying when I return.

Room Tip: Upper floor is nicer and quieter, but of course there are more stairs

Tucked behind shops and restaurants on Plac Szczepanski, all the rooms look out onto a peaceful courtyard. The room was comfortable and the staff informative and friendly. No breakfasts are served, but there are several places to get a bite to eat on the Plac or nearby. Easy walk to main square and the train and bus stations. Actually, we walked everywhere, even to the Jewish quarter though buses were available. Laundry service was much appreciated.

Room Tip: There is no elevator.

I have stayed in this little guest house many times, and I have to say that when I book a trip to Krakow it is the easiest decision I make as to where to stay. I get exactly what I want, a nice central location, a clean warm (or cool) room, very friendly staff, the ability to come and go as I choose and a very relaxed atmosphere. 5 stars from me.

This was the third time we had stayed at the Globtroter - this time we brought friends! We received a discount as this was a repeat visit, which we thought was a fantastic way to reward loyal customers. We had told our friends about how great the Globtroter was, but I truly don't think they believed us until they were there to experience it for themselves! The guesthouse shares an entrance with a grotty nightclub, this seems a bit misleading at first (indeed the first time we stayed we wondered what we had got ourselves into!) but once you enter the (securely locked) entrance to the guesthouse garden all worries vanish. A beautiful garden, clean rooms, friendly staff and a fabulous location for an extremely competitive price - what more could you want?! Our friends loved our trip to Krakow and agreed that the Globtroter was the perfect place to stay. A special thank you to PETER, who we saw most of during our trip, for his help with directions and his great skills in customer service. We will be back!
