“Not bad at all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

I booked a holiday to Krakow through Thomas Cook who advised me that this was a good hotel.
Room: It was what we booked and the beds and bedding were very clean. I was uncomfortable in the bed and lifted the mattress and found a Lynx Spray. We complained to the staff at the reception and were told 'I will tell Manager'. When I went back to discuss this issue the next day his attitude was 'so what' The TV does not have any English channels even though they have been tuned. If you can understand Polish you will be fine with the TV but we did want to relax with the TV in the evening. The bathroom was very good and clean but we did have to request additional towels. Be careful when water gets on the floor and you get out of the bath you will go flying. The floor is non stick and I am not blaming the hotel this is for the travelers safety. When we went to make a cup of tea the cups were all plastic and terrible so we went down to the restaurant and picked up china mugs and could enjoy the cuppa. Breakfast was continental and enjoyed. It was the same every day but plenty to chose from. It did get busy especially during the week as the hotel was used by the Polish for business purposes. The room was cleaned daily but was not well done. We came back from a day out and found a mobile phone card in our room with a name unknown to us. We did feel uneasy about this as we wonder if this person had been in our room. When we went to the Manager again he did not care. We believe it was left by the cleaner who thought it may have been ours and left it for us. The hotel is close to everything and if a Taxi is needed book through the hotel and ask for the price up front. We booked a taxi to collect us from the airport when we arrived and paid 100 zloty (£20) which was cheap. The return to the hotel after your holiday is 75 zloty. This is cheaper because the taxi driver is dropping you off and does not have to pay for parking. When we booked the taxi to return us to the airport we asked the Hotel reception how much it would cost and were told quite rudely 75 zloty and we went on to ask why it was cheaper to drop us off. The receptionist snapped at us and said rudely 'no parking'. I have to admit that most of the reception staff are bloody rude. There again I would stay again because the hotel was cheap and worthwhile but avoid the receptionists. DO NOT book trips from the hotel. There are plenty of information places (displaying a letter i) and it is much cheaper. DO NOT book a taxi from the UK call the hotel direct and you will save loads. If you are booking this holiday yourself and not involving a travel agent (which I did not) the weekly cost was 369 zloty but I am not sure per person or per room but it is still cheaper. I took cash with me and did worry about the safety....We felt so safe in Krakow. We did not feel threatened. There is so much to see and I suggest that you get on a tram and just 'go'. Like anywhere there are very polite people and very rude. We did notice that there were many rude Polish people and did wonder if they felt we were coming in to Krakow in droves. There were many many tourists. I suggest you purchase some Amber which is sold every where but DO NOT buy at the first place as there are many stalls and shops that sell it. We went to the same restaurant 3 times on the trot because the food was FANTASTIC....I don't have the restaurants name but it is at the top of Floriansk Street and there are staff trying to pull you in off the street in funny grey uniforms. The food was great and look out for the funny looking guys because the restaurant is set in a cellar and you would not find it. We would recommend you trying the restaurant and the hotel. We are going back next yr but driving. Thanks for reading

Room Tip: All rooms are good but do ask for additional towels and china cups. There is a little shop behind t...

The location was very good - easy access to the Old Town and all amenities. However, the room was disappointing. On arrival the air conditioning did not work so we reported this to the reception staff. The next day it was still not working so was reported again. Later that evening, we checked that it would be looked at and were told it would. By the next day no-one had been to look at it so we got cross and an engineer arrived immediately. However, we were told he could not fix it and it was too late to change rooms until the following day, so we spent 3 hot nights in a room with no air conditioning. The new room was satisfactory but the bed sheet did not fit the mattress, which was dirty and stained, and there was only 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel for 2 people, so we had to ask for more. The staff were impersonal - neither friendly nor unfriendly, and did not acknowledge their guests. Tables at breakfast were not cleared after use, and most tables were dirty. When they were cleared, the drity dishes and cutlery were stacked up on the bar, which did nothing to enhance the ambience. The price for the Salt Mines tour was 90 zloty more than that which we subsequently booked direct with Cracow Tours. We would not return to this hotel.

Hotel is comfortable, very friendly staff. 10 mins walk from station. 5 mins walk to main square. Make the effort and do the local bars not the touristy ones. They are alot cheaper and not watered down. The best ones have a big board outside saying all drinks 4 zlt, or 1 euro or 80p.

The location was good.. We only spent less than 2 Euro on travelling the entire trip within the Krakow city. We visited all the places in the City..All walking distance and the salt mine we took bus 304 from the main bus stop which is also just 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Bus fare was 2.80 zl per person one way.. Hotel service was not very good..but it is manageable.

Excellent value hotel in the heart of charming Krakow Old Town. I visited with a group and was met by friendly, helpful, good value. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Overlooking the next door gardens.

The hotel has comfortable spacious rooms that were clean and par for the course. The Wifi did not work in our room. The breakfast was pretty parse and if you have the option to go elsewhere, I would.

Just returned from 5 days in Krakow - fifteenth time in Krakow but the first time at the Campanile - very comfortable room, very clean, lovely view over the trees, excellent location for the old town or over the Galleries Krakowska or the train & coach stations. Excellent value for money at the under £40 per night. Staff were very friendly and helpful (when needed). Will definitely stay again on future visits

Room Tip: Ask for a 'nice view' and stay above the 3rd floor - ours was a smoking room (for my partner...
