“Heaven in a hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2009

Believe everything you read about this beautiful hotel. You will experiece the exemplary service missing from many other hotels. Totally without the 'corporate image' of hotels with an inhanced star rating. Location perfect. - non better. Facilities perfect - luxury rooms at a so reasonable rate. Kind and considerate service throughout. - best staffing ever experienced, Noting is too much trouble. Hope to return frequently. I love this hotel !

I stayed in the Wentzl with my wife on the occasion of my 50th birthday. I chose this hotel due to the excellent and extensive reviews it received on Tripadvisor. I was not disappointed. The hotel arranged my airport transfer for a very reasonable £18. We were met at arrivals by the driver with a sign displaying our name. The transfer took approximately 20 minutes.

The façade of the hotel is very pleasant although the entrance doesn’t prepare you for what awaits inside. The interior is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The receptionist who received us, ‘Grazyna’ was delightfully pleasant and informative.

We had chosen room 41 from the hotels internet website which displays photographs of each room. It was of a large, very modern design with a beautiful spacious ensuite which was also modern with a hint of art deco. A very nice touch was a welcome bottle of champagne for my birthday. The room reeked of quality from the original Philippe Stark chairs to the large plasma TV on the wall opposite the bed. They even have a DVD library at reception. Very unusually the mini bar prices are very reasonable. The deluxe rooms on the top floor are definitely the ones to go for as they have a small balcony from which you can view the square below.

The breakfasts were cold buffet with a wide selection of fruits meats and cheeses. You can also order bacon and eggs in a range of options. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with paintings on loan from the National Gallery. My only gripe – beware the information sheet in the bedroom states that breakfast is served until 11 a.m. – it isn’t it stops at 10.30 a.m. which caused us to miss our breakfast on day two of our stay. A tiny criticism as every other element of this hotel is in the 5 Star category. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough – its excellent value. I have travelled extensively and stayed in most of the corporate 5 star chains – this hotel beats them all hands down. This is a hotel of the highest quality with character and staff to match.

I have no reservation in recommending it and intend to return myself next year.

Read the reviews and sounded too good to be true. The entrance doesnt look much but inside was a delight. Try and get one of the rooms on the top floor with a small balcony. Ues it can be noisy but the windows block it all out. Wireless was free and fast and they tried to think of everything in the room. Staff, as has been said, are cheerful, helpful and professional. We mentioned that one of the lights was not working and within minutes one of the staff was up to change the bulb. The breakfast is in a beautiful room with the walls adorned with paintings from the National Gallery. The breakfast buffet was excellent too. Can't rate this highly enough!

This luxurious hotel is in an absolutely perfect location in Krakow. It can be a bit noisy on weekends looking out on the square, but all the rooms have double-double paned windows (inner and outer windows) that do a good job of noise control. The staff was exceedingly freindly and helpful, greeting us each time we came in the door. The restaurant was good, but not fabulous, but then we live in Paris for comparison. The breakfast had the usual European buffet with a choice of one hot dish prepared and brought to your table - the scrambled eggs were good. Highly recommended.

We selected this hotel because of it's excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and it's favorable mention in the Rick Steve's book. We were not disappointed.

We were in room 41 which was exquisitely decorated in a very modern decor. It has a large flat screen TV, a great view of the Main Market Square, and a spacious bathroom with tub, shower, and bidet.

The location could not have been better being right on the Main Square and only a 10 to 15 minute walk to the main Krakow Glowny train station. The hotel staff was great and we enjoyed everything about this hotel.

We will definitely stay at the Hotel Wentzl again if returning to Krakow.

By the way, While in Krakow be sure to visit Auschwitz, and the Wieliczka Salt Mine. We hired Andrew from http://tour-service.pl/ for our transportation to Auschwitz and can not say enough good things about his excellent service and his knowledge of the region.

Right on the Main Square we also recommend visiting St. Mary's Basilica. We've been to dozens of churches and cathedrals around the world and found St. Mary's to be one of the most beautiful and interesting. The wood carvings statues and the main altarpiece are amazing.

We also enjoyed great jazz at the Piano Rouge jazz club and restaurant directly across the square from the Wentzl.

Booked the hotel with my partner on the basis of the reviews read on this site. All I've got to say is , WOW! From the moment you walk in and your luggage is whisked to your room, to the moment you leave this hotel is an experience you don't want to miss.
The room allocated was room 45 on the 4th floor , again WOW! The view of the square is wonderful even if there is major works going on around and in the Cloth hall . This room has a small balcony so you are able to enjoy the sights from a superb vantage point. The decor is modern but classy and the bathroom is an experience in its self. Ate in the restaurant on our last night. Fantastic experience. Food and service first class. All in all I'd say this hotel was on the list of 100 things to do before you die. We'll be back.

We booked the Wentzl for the experience of staying right on the main square. Watching all the activity in the square every morning and every evening and enjoying the views added a lot to our experience of Krakow. The room was gorgeous (they let us select our room when we booked), the breakfast was excellent, and the staff was very helpful. There was no issue with noise from the square because of the double windows. Highly recommended.

Note: the Cloth Hall is currently under renovation, but the view was lovely nonetheless.
