“One of my favorite hotels in the world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2010

Krakow itself is a jewel of Europe and this hotel a gem as well. My understanding is that the hotel as existed for hundreds of years. The rooms are elegant, as well as comfortable. The "single" beds are more like US full size beds. The breakfast is the best I have ever had, with a huge choice of foods and beverages. The staff are accommodating, friendly, and helpful. the location is perfect; just steps from the main square and St. Mary's Basilica. I have stayed in this hotel on 3 occasions and will do so again.

Stayed at the Pod Roza at the end of May 2010 with family. Had a wonderful stay. Roooms were spacious and clean, and the lobby offered free Wi Fi. Contrary to previous reviews of this site, the breakfast was excellent. You could even order other breakfast foods then what was on the buffett. The best part of the hotel is the location, right off of the square in Old town. The hotel staff helped arrange transportation for day trips. The only draw back was ome loud noise coming from the streets at night. Would recommend others stay here and would go back again.

just a couple of minutes from square close to everything sites and restaurants. also very easy to reach from bus or train staion 10-15min walk.we used the public bus from the airport and then walk from krakow bus station to hotel couldnt be easier.good buffet breakfast very pleasant staff it was very warm in the rooms so had the windows open during the night therefore you could hear the late night early morning revellers !! but have to say this really didnt bother us and the location of the hotel was well worth the little noise.visited auschwitz and the salt mines also did the city tour by electric cart a easy and lazy way to see the highlights if you are restricted for time.altogether a superb mini break and one to reccommend.

Without doubt, this is the place to stay in Krakow. Location is unbeatable, an oasis of calm in the heart of the Old Town, 150 yards from the main square but away from the bustle. Excellent quality fixtures and fittings, spacious rooms, all in keeping with the style and age of the building, but lacking no modern amenities. The breakfast/dining room is a triumph, originally a courtyard, now covered by a glass roof, with a mezzanine piano bar.

Stayed in this very nice hotel right in the center of Krakow. Food was superb and would definitely recommend having at least one meal in the place. Hotel is probably more a middle of the road hotel than high end, for example, there is no turndown service, no help with luggage and no bustling foyer, however for what we wanted and simply because the cuisine is so top end - its definitely worth a visit! Free internet access in the lobby which is good too. You can't really go wrong with this hotel!

I travel once every two years to Krakow, and this is, along with the Stary, one of the best hotels Ive stayed in. Rooms are clean, cleaning women arent the type that sneak into the room, but rather are very polite, the reception was fantastic, they even gave me a wake up call when my taxi arrived which was very thoughtful.
The food in the restaurant is great. It was filled with locals, so that tells you about the "insider" perception. The staff went out of its way and even accommodated some extra menu items.
The beds were comfortable, the room nice and warm, shower was great and the products were too.
The location is brilliant, right next to the old town. You can literally walk anywhere.
In short - if any of the previous reviews had observations regarding quality of service, I can vouch for the fact that they have definitely changed it, because not once did I experience bad service in my stay.
Oh, and last but not least, the decor is simply incredible, classic, elegant!

Me and my husband stayed at the Pod Roza Hotel for an extended weekend. We were very delighted with our choice of hotel. The room (a standard double room) was comfortable and spacious enough when thinking about the price of it. The bathroom had a touch of luxury with marble floors&walls, L´Occitane toiletries and a bubble bath. The room was also very clean & quiet. Breakfast was tasty and staff always smiling & friendly. One of the best features of the hotel is its location, couldn´t be any better!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Pod Roza Hotel is the oldest hotel in Krakow. It is located between the Florianska Gate and the Main Square, in the heart of old town. The hotel is on the busy Royal Route, which leads millions of tourist straight to the Royal castle. Since the 17th century it has played host to numerous international luminaries. Tsar Alexander I of Russia, Grand Duke Constantine Romanov, Persian emissary to Napoleon Mohamed Riza, Franz Liszt, Honore de Balzac are amongt many eminent guests that stayed here. STET DOMUS HAEC, DONES FLUCTUS FORMICA MARINOS EBIBET ET TOTUM TESTUDO PERAMBULET ORBEM - Latin proverb, engraved at the entrance of the palace guarantees that nothing will change for the centuries to come: "May this house stay here until the ant drinks all of the sea water and the turtle ends its route around the world". Following its refurbishment this four-storey hotel, located in the former Renaissance palace of Prospero Provano, meets all the modern standards of hospitality. 57 Rooms are available, including seven suites. Each floor has a unique decor, from the stately and distinguished biedermeier style to the cosy contemporary arrangement. The colorful polychrome on the walls, historic tile stoves, woodblock floors, graceful stuccowork with the recurring rose motif testify to the hotelier tradition that has been nurtured throughout the centuries. Each guest room is equipped with air-conditioning, phone, complimentary high-speed Internet access, plasma TV and minibar. The bathrooms, featuring luxury Italian fittings and heated floors, are tiled with natural stone (granite, marble, basalt, mica). Two elegant restaurants are housed on the former courtyard under a glazed roof. Each has a unique style, decor and service. At weekends the food lovers are entertained by live piano music. ... more   less
