I have stayed in this hotel twice over the past couple of years and think it's an excellent base. You are not even a five minute walk from Alchemia and the square in the jewish quarter, where there are plenty of bars around.

Rooms seemed slightly more dated this year than my first impression in 2006, but the bathrooms are lovely, and spotless and the rooms are a decent size. The food isn't fantastic, but it's sufficient. Staff very helpful with good english.

I stayed there with friends for 3 nights in June. Apart from the weather we had a lovely time. Hotel a bit far our for my liking but thats personal taste.

Clean bedrooms and bathroom. Very pleasant reception area with very helpful staff.

I would recommend this hotel if you like being on the "outskirts" of the main square but still in the central area.

I visited the concentartion camps which were booked through the hotel and very good value for money. I also visited the Salt Mines which I did on local transport.

Overall it was a very pleasant stay

I recently stayed at the Regent with a group of friends in May of 2009. The hotel is in a great location, the up-and-coming Kazimierz section of the city. Only a block from several tram stops and an easy walk to the market square. It is particularly close to Wawel Castle. There were several very good restaurants in the area as well as lots of markets for snacks or water. The hotel staff was very helpful in setting up tours and the hotel restaurant had very good food and service as well as a nice outdoor courtyard in which we enjoyed the Polish beer! The only drawback was the our double room was very small which very little room to move around.

We stayed at the Regent for 4 nights and were very pleased. The room was clean and well decorated, bathroom spotless. TV in room but no English channels but were too tired at night to watch much anyway!
The breakfast buffet gave a good selection of cereals, bread, meats, hard boiled eggs, cheeses and also hot sausages & scrambled eggs. There was a toaster (which we used each morning) and jam/marmalade.

Staff in the hotel were friendly and efficient (we asked for extra pillows and they arrived quickly) and they arranged our transport back to the airport in a taxi which was waiting for us at the arranged time.

Loved this hotel's position - bang in the old Jewish quarter and handy for everything - take comfy shoes as you'll do loads of walking and don't be scared to go into some of the little bars/cafes - lots of them have gorgeous garden/patios at the back which were a suprise!
Turn left out of the hotel and you'll find a market about 100yds up the road - seemed to be people selling different things (bit like a car boot) there every morning and on one evening there was a band playing on the roof of the building in the middle of the square which was quite a treat. If you carry on up the road to the end and turn left you'll find the best square for restaurants in the evening - we used Vinci's for three out of our four nights as the food and service was sooooooo good!

We uses 'SeeKrakow.com' for our trips to Auschwitz and the Salt Mines and couldn't fault them at all except that their buses were a bit cramped. You may be able to find cheaper trips, but these were excellent.

Excellent hotel, staff very helpful, continental breakfast with toast and eggs as well, room was spacious and it did have an hairdryer. used www.krakowtraveltours.com for airport xfer and auschwitz tour and found they were the cheapest tour agent in krakow and were brilliant. the jewish square is worth finding not far from the hotel with restaurants and bars and even an indian restaurant which we tried on the saturday evening and the food was great although very hot so ask for a mild rather than a medium. we went on a trolley bus (electric car) tour from the market square which cost £56 for two for 11/2 hours very informative though not sure it was worth that much, apparently in the summer they have a city bus tour which costs about £12 each all day ticket hop on and off. surrounding the hotel is a vast number of bars and restaurants and for someone like me who is a very fussy eater, likes plain and simple food that was no problem at all. in our opinion the location of the hotel was better than staying anywhere near the old town and market square as the bars and restaurants were a lot cheaper. approx £1.60 for a pint of local lager which is 5% and really nice and you must try the different flavour vodkas as well.
