“Fun day-get there early for tickets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014 NEW

We enjoyed touring Wawel. This place is divided up into separate areas & separate tickets. The palace rooms/suites tend to sell out by noon on most days in the summer so do get there early. It's an easy walk from the center square and there is a nice café there to take a break in between tours.

“A Lovely Cathedral at Wawel Castle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014 NEW

Wawel Cathedral is beautiful inside and out. Tours are continuous, but here is not photography allowed inside the cathedral -- what a shame, since they have a silver book with a relic consisting of a vial of Pope John Paul's blood.

“Good day out!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014 NEW

Try and make sure you have a fair idea of what you want to see inside the castle as you have to pay for each room separately. Also make sure you take waterproofs because ANYTHING can happen with the weather within minutes. I got drenched queuing up for my tickets. State Rooms, Tower and Dragon's Den all good choices! If you go through the den it will bring you out by the river so make sure you know how to get back!

“History revisited”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014 NEW

We bought tickets for the armoury, private and state apartments and the Da Vinci painting of the 'Lady with an ermine'. We had a terrific guide round the private apartments and the rest was free flow visiting. I would have had trouble going up and down longish flights of marble stairs without a handrail, but then discovered that on request one can be whisked up and down in a lift accompanied by a castle employee. i\t was well worth visiting Wawel. I also saw inside the cathedral, but did not buy tickets for the extended visit. There is an outdoor cafe in summer, in one of the castle courtyard and there is a post office and resturant with all facilities in a modern building in the grounds. A pleasnt walk back to the Old Town.
