“Good location, nice hotel - lovely staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

I stayed here with my wife recently for 3 nights and we were very happy with the hotel. It is only a 5 minute walk form the main old square in Krakow, the room was nice - breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The Fortuna ticks all the boxes. The staff could not be more helpful, the rooms and en suites are excellent, and breakfast has a wide choice of both hot and cold food. Krakow is a beautiful city which, unlike Poland's capital Warsaw, almost totally escaped damage in world war two. A great way to see the City is by stretched golf buggy. There are dozens of them running about the City, and you can hail them like a taxi, and they will offer three separate tours. The cost is zl 130 for each tour, (appx £27). for up to eight people. We decided to do all three tours, and would recommend that you do the same. You see the whole of the City and the commentaries are informative and very well done. There two things not to miss in Krakow, are Auschwitz/ Birkenau concentration camps, and the Oscar Schindler museum. The concentration camps I found very emotional, but they are not to be missed, as we must never forget the terrible events that happened, and make sure that they can ever happen again. The Oscar Schindler museum has been recently opened in what was the administration building at the factory, and is stunning. The film ' Schindlers List', was actually filmed here and around Krakow, and will be of interest to film buffs. On a lighter note, you will find Krakow very inexpensive, prices being at least 30% cheaper than the UK. The local beer 'Tiskie' is great, and at at least half the cost of beer in the UK. Go and sit in the beautiful medieval square, and sample the cuisine from dozens of open-air restaurants. Having written this, I wonder why the hell I came home !!!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011

We stayed for one night here. Service was kind and room was lovely high as older buildings are. Hotel was original looking. Breakfast was good. With the coeliac deceace I was happy to have my own breads at the breakfast table, because there was no gluten free breads available. Only thing what was a little bit of a disappointment for us was a bath room. We expected more luxurian look a like as during the olden days but it was just ordinary and old but clean one.

I forgot my dear trousers at the room. I noticed it later on when we got already back at home. I contacted to hotel by email and they respondid fast. They send my trousers via mail without any payments to me. It was so very friendly from them because the mistake was mine. I was very happy about getting those back :)

The location is superb, the hotel itself is very accomodating, the staff will try their level best to assist with everything.
The hotel organised minibuses to and from the airport for us at a good price, as well as assisting us booking tours with hotel pick up.
A three minute walk from the hotel your in the mmain square where there is plenty bars and restaurants.
There is a lovely bar just around the corner from the hotel called the Starry Port which is open late and is tourist friendly.
Can't really fault the place.
