“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

If you love modern art then you must visit the gallery and its just beside the Oscar Schindler Factory so it's worth doing both. There were some excellent exhibitions on when we visited and I just loved the contemporary feel of the place.

“Beautiful museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

If you love contemporary art, this Krakow gallery provides all the 20th century works and some from this century. I did not have time to visit the entire museum, but the time I had gave a great overview of Polish Art Noveau and beyond.

“Nice building, variable art”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

MOCAK’s main entrance lies right behind the Oscar Schindler Factory in Podgorze, so a visit to both makes a great, and very contrasting day. There’s also a new (excellent) pizza restaurant a few yards along the road for lunch in between. (NB: there’s not much else in the way of food in the immediate area.)

MOCAK only opened in 2011 and is state of the art, though it incorporates a couple of other older buildings which are worth a look-in. There is a café with outside seating area, art bookstore and a casual outside sitting space complete with deck chairs. Entrance is 10zl (Concessions 5zl; free if you are under 7 or over 70).

The art itself – as in most contemporary galleries - ranges from the pretentious to the sublime and has both permanent and temporary special exhibitions. The main exhibition when we visited was ‘Economics in Art’, the third in their series of provocative exhibitions attempting to relate contemporary art to significant ‘domains of civilisation’ like history, science and sport. I’m not sure it works. Its three main messages appear to be: the world economy is in a mess, art costs money, and artists are poor!

The permanent collection currently features painting, drawing sculpture, photography and video by both Polish and international artists; some of which I found excellent. If you are in Podgorze anyhow for the Jewish Ghetto and Schindler connections, it really is well worth while taking in MOCAK even if you are not a modern art fan: it's fresh and bright and completely different to the rest of the area.

“Modern Art in historical Krakow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

One of the better Contemporary Art Museums I have been to. New stylish building and great exhibition area. A nice cafe with good coffee.
The only small downside (not for the Museum but for us), our visit took place in between to exhibitions and we were just able to see a small part of it. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Krakow. Well worth 10 zloty

“A Hidden Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Well it's down a side street and you are more likely to find it if you head to Schindlers factory but it's well worth to 10zlotys entrance fee. A nice range of modern art obviously with a Polish stance standout very enjoyable if you like modern art and a lovely way to while away as couple of hours in an impressive building and don't forget to have a drink in the equally smart coffee shop
