“better than average value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

repeat visit to this small cellar restaurant of Hotel Unicus in side street off lively Floeianska. Only guests while we ate but 2 other couples arrived at 20:30. nice starter of chicken liver pate + mousse, followed by duck and small dumplings. Finished off with a local creme brulee. With a SA chenin blanc mix, we paid just PLN 259. sensible portions and attentive service

“Excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Not many people realise that this chef is one of the best in Poland he has won many awards. He was the head chef at the Culdesac restaurant near the main post office which went down hill when he left. It took us 2 years to find where he went! The restaurant is hidden away in a side street off Florienska in a basement. It is in a 13th century basement and is simply a stunning setting. The is one of the best in Krakow it is a small menu but excellent well cooked and presented food. The crockery and wine glasses are unique and make the place even more special. It is Michelin quality food. The wines are good and very reasonably priced. The waitresses were a bit inexperienced but the food made up for it, even the coffee was excellent. The sad thing is that the restaurant is never busy. We have been about 5 times in the last 3 years and never had a bad meal. Last time we even asked the chef to cook his lemon prawn risotto which was not on the menu and he did. The chef even came out and gave us the recipe (in Polish). All I can say is take the plung and be surprised!

“Very good cellar estaurant in hotel of same name”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

We are regular visitors to Krakow but had not heard of this restaurant before seeing a mention in "In your Pocket" for Krakow. It is in the spacious cellars of the Hotel Unicus and located in a side street off Florianska towards Barbikan. The evening we went on 21 May, the place was empty until well into our dinner. The friendly waitress was a bit slow to take our order but later got into her stride. We had a carpaccio of zuccini and sliced herring as starters, followed by Sandacz and wild boar as mains, and shared a delicious chocolate fondant to finish. There was a nice South African chenin blanc reasonably priced (for Krakow) at PLN 79. Our conclusion was that this was somewhere worth another visit next time to see if quality is maintained

“Gorgeous cellar restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2012

We stayed in the Unicus, and having read on the hotel reviews that the restaurant was good, we gave it a shot. We were not disappointed. Lovely attentive friendly service. Gorgeous dumplings and mushrooms to start. My hubby raved about his duck and the gorgeous cabbage that came with it. We were brought a complementary nibble of smoked salmon to start. The place is in a lovely medieval cellar. Apart from us there was only one diner! A hidden gem in Krakow for sure.
