“Great quiet spot for a authentic and simply cooked meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012 via mobile

Another recommendation from our hostel turned out well. This spot does it self service style with a selection of four perogi, several meat dishes, vegetables and soups. Stick to the perogi and you won't be disappointed. We had the spinach ones and I'd say they were the best we had in Poland. The ham hok looked amazing so maybe if you are there give it a try. Well priced and good ambience but it closes early at 9. Go around the corner to the left if you get there late and it's closed

“When in Rome (I mean Krakow)..!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

My partner is half-polish thus, we are rather familiar with Pierogis and Golumpki. He also has family in Krakow and they took us to Polski Smaki on the first day we arrived in the old city. This restaurant is a small bistro, with modest settings and fabulous home style food. The interior is nicely decorated with paintings depicting food and rows of jars of pickled veggies. The staff doesn't speak much English (their main business is from locals) but they are used to tourists. The menu itself is in Polish as well as English as is the case for most city center eateries and its priced for the locals, thus make it a very affordable place for the tourists to eat. We ordered the food at the counter and one of the waitress brought the food to our table. We liked the food on our first visit so well, that we returned several times during our week long stay in Krakow. They serve a variety of dishes such as Borscht, Flaczki, Bigos, Golumpki etc, all well made. Pierogis we had here were simply the best we ever had. They have several different kinds of Pierogis and we tried all of them, but always ended with the sweet "blueberry and cream" Pierogis as dessert. No doubt it will be the first place we eat at again, on our next trip to Krakow.
A hidden gem. Highly recommended.

“No nonsense, authentic Polish food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2012

Collect your own cutlery and food from the counter, but the quality of the fare is very good. A mixture of locals and tourists looking to get a cheap decent bite to eat. Nice pierogi and golabki sampled... Only open for breakfast and lunch.
