“Czech cuisine with Polish creativity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

This restaurant is just acrross the corner from Sheraton. It's small restaurant in basement. Service is excellent. Food tastes good - but sometimes there is Polish creativity that has nothing to do with Czech cuisine. Still you might taste something similar to Czech cuisine. Beverages are typical from Czech Republic. Prices are affordable.

“Great Beer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

I fancied some good beer and after quick research on google I found this place. I had plenty of Czech food and beer before but I must say the fried cheese (Smažený sýr) I had in this place is far better than in many restaurants in Prague. The beer was excellent as well, good choice.

“Lovely food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Found this place as came up as "close to my hotel" on Trip Advisor - liked the look of the menu so thought would try it. Was easy to find and reasonably priced. Nicely decorated and quick service. Waiting staff very pleasant and food was lovely. Cost about £18 for two courses each and a beer for two - super value. I highly recommend the goulash!

“Czech Cuisine in the Heart of Poland's Ancient Capital”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Stumbled on this restaurant by chance (literally, I was walking from Old Town to the Kosciuszko Mound and happened to pass it, so stopped in on the way back). It is a little off the beaten track, (Zwierzyniecka 30) and inside a passageway to the interior courtyard of a block, so you have to know it will be there. The restaurant is down below street level, decor is very clean and modern (no attempt to play the "Slavic folklore" theme that is so beaten to death in Krakow), photos on the walls feature scenes of Czech monuments and cultural icons like the Charles Bridge, or the little mole (Krtecek). The menu features classic Czech cuisine, with a few main entrees that are rather Continental than "native Czech" and a page of Polish specialties for anyone who doesn't want the change that the Czech menu provides. Wine list seemed limited, but there was a wide selection of bottled beer, and on tap when I visited they were pulling Bernard (which I chose) and Staropramen.

I had the cesnecka (zupa csosnkowa, garlic soup), and, on the principle that if your ice cream store can't make killer vanilla, then there's no point sampling anything else, I ordered the "vepro-kedo-zelo" classic of roast pork with cabbage and Czech dumplings. The garlic soup was served with grated cheese to melt in the broth and gum up the croutons that were presented on the side but quickly ended up in the soup; the pork was tender and tasty in a sauce with just enough salt and a generous sprinkling of caraway seeds; the cabbage was rich with bits of smoked pork belly (aka bacon), and the dumplings were the lightest and airiest Czech "knedliky" I think I've ever had. I topped it off with an espresso with milk, and kudos to them they served it with steam milk so piping hot you could hardly hold onto the pitcher -- a touch that suggests attention to detail that was also evident in the rest of the setting and presentation. Altogether a very pleasant meal and a place I would definitely go back to with friends in tow.

Thank you very much for nice and thorough feedback! We're delighted to hear that you had a pleasant visit and that you enjoyed everything. Thank you for the hint regarding our wines - we are just in the process of selecting bottled wines which will match our meals. So hopefully when you visit us again, the wine selection will be wider. Looking forward to see you again!

“A very pleasant find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

We accidently found this restaurant as it's a bit hidden, but it turned out to be really great. The service was really friendly and professional, the platter for two of traditional food that we shared was really huge and cooked very well. Also the prices were very reasonable, spending about 10 euro per person. Overall definately to recommend!
