“a good starting point to explore Krakow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

A bit strange building, looks like a dormitory, but clean and cozy air-conditioned rooms for a very low price, 20-minute walk from the old town. Reception is on the 2nd floor, you have to ring the bell at night. Too much sachets everywhere, smells like a perfumery, but recommended.

Rooms were clean and having comfortable beds. Rooms are climatized. Breakfast was really good. Staff is nice and helpful. One of the days we spent there they even provided a breakfast package, when we had to leave earlier, due to our program. Overall very positive surprise!

The Polonez is a post WW2 era hotel situated on AGH University grounds. Out of town professors and other guests appreciate the excellent location mid-campus during their school year stays. As we stayed here end of July, 2012, it was quiet. Across the street is a fabulous park, where I was able to jog on lovely wide paved paths, no cars to contend with. It is an approx 12 - 15 minute walk to Krakow's (SPECTACULAR) "Stare Miasto Rynek", Old City Square. Our room was very spacious. The beds were not great, but not bad either. (Note that the hotel was closing in August for 1 month for "major" room renovations). Our bedroom had 1 king bed, and the living room had a couch/bed for our teen son. The shower pressure was good and no lack of hot water. The room's air conditioning worked perfectly. The young Ladies at the front desk were always friendly, and helpful if needed. Breakfast was included, and we were happy to see a decent coffee maker, where we had some good strong cups of "kawa", coffee. Breakfast was freshly cut hams, tomatoes, cheeses, & breads, a standard buffet breakfast. On the week-end the buffet has some cooked eggs, either scrambled, fried, etc. & some hot cooked meat. A very nice lady ran the breakfast. This hotel experience was a positive for us, & it reminded me of my visits to Poland during Communist times, but with no shortage of anything!

Basic hotel, clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Ladies at the reception very kind and efficient. Good money value. 10 minutes walk to downtown. Breakfast without big selection but perfectly acceptable. A great park in front for jogging.

Polonez Hotel is located in the building of the AGH University, in the center of Cracow (10 - 15 minutes walking distance from the Old City) opposite to Jordan Park, and very close to Blonia Park. The most amazing thing at the hotel: a very interesting exposition of original Polish Folk costumes on life-size mannequins. Breakfast: substantial and taste. Rooms and bathroom very clean.
