“Close to the centre and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2010

We chose these apartments because we were travelling by car and there was secure parking nearby, and free parking available on site over the weekend. We had a 2 bedroom apartment on the first floor, which was clean with reasonably sized bedrooms. The only criticisms are that there was no real living area, but I suspect that may be the typical layout of apartments in Poland. The cooking facilities and equipment were a bit limited, but there was a washing machine, which was pretty useful after a couple of weeks of travelling. Overall, we were happy with the apartment, the location was great and the staff were very helpful.

I decided to visit Krakow to celebrate my 40th birthday, and was travelling with my wife, son and friends, ten of us in total.

I booked the hotel early and as the trip approached easyjet messed us about and cancelled our outbound flight. We eventually got tyhe flights sorted out but that meant 8 of us went a day earlier and 2 went two days earlier. This however was no hassle to the Ventus Rosa at all and they still managed to get us all accommodated without any hassle. Rooms were great, and facilities were great including free Internet access either on the PC in reception or via wifi.

When you enter the apartment building you'll be greeted by Lili and Camilla, 2 very beautiful and very pleasant young polish women. They were just excellent in looking after us all making calls for us and liaising with local activity providers overcoming the language barrier. The Ventus has an arrangement with a local transport provider and looking back these guys proved to be an essential part of the holiday. They transferred us from the airport and over the course of the holiday took us go-karting, laser questing, Pistol shooting (yes with actual bullets !!), to Auschwitz, the Salt Mines, and also back to the airport. The drivers were just brilliant guys. My wife who is only 4' 10" was totally dwarfed by Robert who must have been at least 6'6" or more but was a great fella. Our other driver Zippy was the superstar of the holiday. We were all enthralled by his many stories of his adventures over the years all told in an excellent command of english told to us flavoured with an addictive Polish accent. He even recommended a great Indian Resturant. A really brilliant bloke.

We were there for 4 nights / 5 days and we surprised ourselves how much we packed in. There were many high spots including the myriad of polish beers and of course the inevitable low spot. Auschwitz is a place I did not want to visit, but went as it was a group activity. An immensly moving place, a very sad place. There you will find a shocking exhibit of the horror that took place and I found myself struggling to understand that it happened only 65 years ago. Its impossible to get across what awaits you at the camp and if you ahve an interest in finding out more about it you simply need to go there and experience it for yourself. But. be prepared....the evil that men do.

Very well situated just a few minutes walk from the old town, in a quiet street. The staff could not have been more helpful - The hotel was very clean and the appartment had everything needed - The only thing missing was a shelf in the bathroom and shower - fortunately there was a bidet which we used as a shelf.

We booked the salt mines and Auschwitz tours through the hotel. If we had to do it again we would not book the Auschwitz tour as it felt very rushed - no time to see the film, or wander a bit - we were not even allowed the time to purchase a drink - and it was 36 degrees! The driver just wanted to get home..

I travelled with a group of friends 10 persons totally and we were booked in 4 separate rooms for 4 days. I stayed in their suite for 3 persons, and we were amazed with spacious room, bathroom, kitchen and closet room we got. The location is only a 10 minutes walk going to the centrum of Krakow. Just wished that they had elevators for the heavy luggages we have to carry from the 2nd floor. However all in all, it was a pleasant stay. I will be staying here again in my next trip to Krakow.

I stayed at Ventus Rosa whilst visiting Krakow on a four night leisure tour with my father. Overall it was a very good experience, especially thanks to the superb service from Lili and others. All in all, a 4/5 star experience at a 2 star price!!!

I had booked VR through a late deal website and, impressively, received a confirmation email from Lili almost immediately. I had requested a twin room, but for some reason were allocated a double room (304) on arrival. To their credit, the team offered to move us to a larger two bedroom apartment for the night and then transferred to our chosen room (202) for the duraton of our stay.

The location of the apartment is just north of the old city, within a five minute walking distance of the main square. The cities main sights (e.g. Wavel castle, Jewish district, Salt mines etc...), however, are mainly south of the main square. That said, Krakow is fairly small and easily walkable. Road works nothwithstanding, there are also plenty of bus and tram available to whisk you around the city at almost no cost. We also appreciated the quietness of the road and the immediate vicinity, but this also meant that only very small grocery stores were at your doorstep. On our very last day we discovered that there is a big Carrefour in the Galeria mall by the train station - only about 10 minutes away, but not ideal if you planned to do a big shop on arrival.

Getting to the apartment from the airport is fairly easy. VR offers to send a private transfer for about 80zl. We preferred to opt for local transport and indeed caught a dedicated shuttlebus (~40 mins) for just 7zl - this stops opposite the entrance to Galleria mall on Pawla St. Alternatively, you can take the train (17 mins) for about 8zl or a local bus (#292, ~50 mins).

The finishing in the rooms is very nice, and bathrooms compare with top rated hotel chains. However, we did notice a quirkyness in the crockery provided - we had a different number of each of cups, mugs, spoons, plates, bowls etc... Also, one issue we had was that the TV reception in room 202 was very poor (304 on the other hand had perfect reception). This was immediately addressed when we raised it, but never to 100%. We didn't mind in any case, as there was only one english station - a news channel that repeated every 15 mins or so. Luckily, the world cup had just started and we could watch this on the other channels with the sound turned down. As DVD players are now incredibly inexpensive, I would suggest to the management to consider providing one in each room to allow families some other entertainment options. The rooms supposedly have wifi (although we didn't have a laptop). There is also a terminal in the main reception which guests can use for free. Note also that there is no a/c in any of the apartments which can get very hot if windows are kept closed.

Our stay was made very comfortable by the excellent service from Lili who helped address all our questions and issues. She also ensured that reception was open after 10pm on the day we arrived as our flight didn't land till 9:30 and the next train wasn't for another 45 mins.

VR offers plenty of tours including one to Aushwitz for 119zl. This is more expensive than those being touted in the main areas, but we chose it anyway as VR recommended it. We enjoyed the tour but WARN anyone of a sensitive disposition to give it a miss. VR staff also recommended the most cost effective way to the salt mines - take the 304 bus from Kurniki St (near the Galleria mall) and get off at the penultimate stop.

Not related to VR, but I just wanted to mention that the Schindlers factory museum has just opened and is fascintating. It closes at 6pm everyday, and we found that you need at least three hours for a decent walk through. Highly recommended!

My boyfriend and i stayed here for a week last October and had a wonderful time. The price was great, the location perfect, the apartment beautiful and the staff very helpful. We were accidentally locked out for a night through an honest mistake and they could not have been nicer or more apologetic and ended up paying for a taxi to take us to the airport on our last morning as an apology. It was an most unexpected, unnecessary but appreciated gesture. Krakow is a beautiful city and staying at Ventus Rosa only made the week more pleasurable. We will definitely be back!!

I stayed in apartment 23 for 4 nights with my partner, we had a great stay and a really relaxing time. Upon arrival we had a young lady show us around, who was very helpful and gave us all the information we could have wanted. The apartments are in a great location only a hundred yards from the Planty and within comfortble walking distance of Rynek Glowny. The only slight problems were the road works to put in new tram lines, but this cannot be helped and the appartment only having one glass and two mugs other than this I cannot find a fault. The bathroom, bedroom and kitchen/dinner were all well finished and spotless. The balcony looked a bit unstable, but this was locked well from harms way. All in all this is a very good place to explore the centre of Krakow and a great place to relax.
