“A home from home - loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

I was impressed by the Ventus Rosa even before we arrived in Krakow. As it was my husband & I's first visit to Krakow we had many questions relating to airport transfers and excursions. The apartments receptionist Magdalena answered my emails very quickly and provided all the information I needed.
The apartments are perfectly located 20-30 minutes from the airport by taxi and about a 10 minute walk from the main market square. The surrounding area is very quiet and therefore we were able to have a good nights sleep after an active day of sightseeing.
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment which was situated on the top floor of the building. I was really impressed with the size of the apartment and the lovely high ceilings. The kitchen / diner contains everything you could need (kettle, toaster, microwave, hob) plus cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and a table suitable for four people. The bathroom is extremely modern and ample white towels were provided. My only criticism of the bathroom is the shower screen; it's designed for a standard bath but doesn't fit properly to the corner bath. I would have preferred a standard bath or a large shower cubicle instead.
The bedrooms are large and each have a flat screen TV and plenty of storage for clothes etc, there is also a large wardrobe and shelf unit in the hall area. I would have liked a mirror in one of the bedrooms (positioned above the dressing table) in addition to the one in the hallway.
We organised our airport taxi transfers and trips to Auschwitz and Wieliczka Salt Mine through the apartments reception and the whole process was straightforward and faultless. The receptionists were all friendly, helpful and spoke fluent English.
If you have fitness / mobility problems ask for a first floor apartment as the building doesn't have a lift. Although we were on the top floor the stairs weren't a problem for us, I loved the staircase with it's stained glass windows / attractive floor tiles.
Despite my (very miner) criticisms I would definitely recommend this apartment hotel as it offers the perfect combination of independence / self containment and helpful, knowledgable staff. In fact I am hoping to return to the Ventus Rosa with my mum in December to visit the Krakow Christmas Markets.

My husband and I stayed at Ventus Rosa for 4 days. We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who spoke fluent English. Our apartment had everything we needed and more, especially for the price we paid. 5 minute walk to the old town and 2 minutes to tram. Very close to shops, restaurants, etc...but not so close that we were able to be away from the noise of the city.

Thank you for your feedback. Our apartments are located far from the main streets. The nearest road is one-way and rarely frequented. At the present time it is not possible to avoid any traffic in the city center. Even the smallest. We invite you once again to take advantage of our hospitality.

Stayed with my partner here for 3 nights (end of May 2013).
Have to say the customer service was amazing, they were helpful to arrange a taxi pickup from the airport (80Pln ~ £18), although it is within 15 minutes walk from the train station (which is also next to a large indoor shopping mall where you can get the usual like KFC etc), at night after landing at 21:30 we just wanted to get there fast.
(Airport to hotel takes 25 minutes in evening traffic)
The apartment itself was lovely, seperate bedroom, kitchen, entrance hall and bathroom (marble!), very spacious and high ceilings. The kitchen is well equipped but we never really used it except for the fridge as we are so close to the town square that food is readily available (even very late into the night)
It does come with a safe, ironing board, hair drier etc, it does not have a lift so it's climbing stairs all the way.

It is self catering so don't expect breakfast etc but being so close to everything it gives you a chance to explore.

There is an amazing restaurant called 'Chata' 5 minutes away (polish food at amazing prices) and a supermarket is also 5-10 minutes away on foot round the corner.

15 minutes walk will take you to the main square which is lively all evening, from the many bars / pubs to restaurants. But despite the abundance of cheap alcohol you won't see people throwing up or getting into fights, its all very very safe, with a lot of people speaking English.

The hotel is opposite what I believe to be the russian embassy so don't be unnerved by armed police (with assault rifles) near by 247, its a very safe area.

It was an amazing place to stay and if we ever go back to Krakow we will definately be staying here!

Thank you for your feedback. Our apartments are located in front of the Russian embassy. Police patrol is here 24/7. Therefore, here is very safe. We invite you again.

Greeted by pleasant staff, showed us the highlights on the map without asking.
Large apartment split into four rooms; entrance, bedroom, bathroom, great kitchen/dinning room.
Really well appointed, even gave us powder for the washing machine!!!
Very clean and tidy.
Slept like a baby, comfy bed, quiet.
Good location, a short walk to the market square but far enough away from the rat race.
Supermarkets close by, and only 15 min walk to the river and bus stops where most tours to the salt mines or Auschwitz leave from.
Would stay here again.

If you prefer to holiday on a self catering basis and meals out if the fancy takes you then Ventusrosa apartments are right up your street. It also has the added bonus of being a short safe walk from the historic city centre and it's marvellous square.
The rooms themselves are clean and and nicely decorated with fridge, microwave, and washing machine as well as a hob for cooking meals. A TV is also included but not much use for non Polish speaking residents. An added bonus was the staff. All were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
If we were to be picky and have a moan the it would be about the water pressure on the kitchen and bathroom taps. The shower was perfect. Secondly the Wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss despite being perfect for the first part of our stay. In all a wonderful apartment, lovely holiday, and hopefully we will return soon.

Wish I could give this place a higher rating. Location is great. Staff wonderfully helpful. Nice to have a fridge and cooking facilities. Venue is quiet, mostly. Price is very reasonable.
But . . .
No lift. Stairs are really great exercise and you get used to it. But, may give some travelers trouble.
It ain't a coffee maker, it's a water boiler. Unless you can score a french press, you're going to be drinking instant coffee. The hotel will give you all you want, but it would've been nice to be able to brew the good stuff. Or enjoy more hot tea.
The wifi sucks, much of the time. This may vary between rooms, but my experience was bad. Generally OK for text and email, but generally not enough for good streaming. Totally useless on occasions. This is important because only one of the few channels you can get on the TV are in English, that being a particularly poor news station.
Two single beds pushed together do not make a good double bed. I didn't care for the mattresses either. Thin. Pillows not much better than the mattresses.
So, why the "very good" rating? Well, great people at the desk, a good place to navigate from and large rooms are big factors here. A decent bang for the buck makes this a very good budget choice.

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, at the moment it is technically impossible to install an elevator. WiFi in the next few days will be available at every location in the building. When it comes to coffee in the near future in the larger apartments we will provide coffee makers! We invite you again!
