“Very comfortable - excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Ventus Rosa Apartments, 28th Nov. to 2nd Dec. 2012. The apartment was a bit smaller than the ones on the website, however, it was very cosy and comfortable, and spotlessly clean, with a modern bathroom, free wifi at reception, and free calls to any landline in Europe, also at reception. The beds were extremely comfortable, hard to make yourself get up in the morning! Bottled water, biscuits, sugar, salt & pepper, washing-up liquid and a small box of washing powder were provided in the kitchen, and some small toiletries like soap and shampoo were provided for the bathroom. There is a safety deposit box in the room, also free of charge, very handy. We thought these were nice little touches as most self-catering holidays don't provide any of these things, only utensils etc. Having said this, we only ate breakfast in the apartment a couple of times, due to leaving early for excursions, as there are so many nice places to eat within walking distance. These apartments are very central to the main square, which is absolutely beautiful, in a nice quiet location, no noise during the night. Everything is pretty much in walking distance from the apartments, including a huge shopping centre with just about every high street brand you can think of if you feel like splasing your cash. There are lots of things to see and do in Krakow, great bars, clubs, restaurants and the staff at the hotel were very helpful, recommending the best ones to us. Also, the staff at reception organized trips for us, which was very handy. Considering what we paid for 4 nights, which was very reasonable, we were very pleased with these apartments. We often paid more for a hotel room, and were not as comfortable. The staff are lovely, and speak excellent English. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend the Ventus Rosa. If you want comfortable, well priced accommodation close to the centre of town, these apartments are ideal. No negatives for us. Very pleasant stay.

We stayed at the Ventus Rosa Apartments between 19-22nd November 2012. These apartments are very central to the main square, and are no more than a 7-8 minute stroll away. Initial impressions were very good, with a small reception area, with nice and friendly English speaking staff.

We were allocated a room on the first floor. The room was nice, but it must be said that it was a lot smaller than the ones shown on the website, although it was very clean, there was an almost overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke in the room during our stay, that seemed to get worse each time we left and returned.

On the Tuesday, when we left the apartment, we were out for most of the day, and returned in the evening. The room was secure, and on entering, we found two local tram tickets lying on the floor in the room next to the beds. These did not belong to us, and were not there when we left. It was also clear that the maid had not been in that day. It also appeared that 2 magazines we had, had been moved, and some crisps had been eaten from the kitchen area.

My partner checked her purse (admittedly we should have used the room safe when we left, but we didn’t) and she found that 20 euros had been stolen. We knew this for definite, as we had only taken 95 euros to pay for the taxis to and from the airport, and this was money we had left over from another holiday. The fact that only 20 euros had been taken made it for us not to notice, and we probably wouldn’t have, given different circumstances.

This put a bit of a dampener on our stay to be honest, and we felt quite safety conscious afterwards. We also decided to report the matter to reception. They were very helpful, and offered to move us room, which we accepted. We moved to the room next door, which was twice the size, and appeared to be a triple room, but was overall much nicer.

The reception staff also checked the CCTV for the apartments, between the times we specified to them that the theft of our money had happened. They later told us, that they could see a woman on the footage, entering shortly after we left, and leaving again quickly. They did not know who the woman was, and she was not a guest at the apartments.

This woman must have had a key to our apartment, or at least had some other way of getting in, without causing any other damage to the door. The staff offered to contact the Police on our behalf, however we were returning home, and with the small sum of money involved, did not want to trouble the Police. Since returning home, we have wondered if this has happened previously, and the person has not been caught.

I did notice that the lock on our original room door was different to all the other rooms.
Otherwise, I could not fault the apartments. They have free wifi, a fully working kitchen area, with all new appliances, and a very nice bathroom / shower area in each room. The price we paid through last minute.com was very good, and had the theft not occurred from our room, I would have highly recommended them.

I would still recommend a stay here. Perhaps we have just been unlucky, but I would definitely ensure to use the safe within the rooms if you go.

Room Tip: do not choose room 102

I stayed here on my own in a room on the ground floor behind reception. The room and bedding were really nice with a small built in kitchen which made me feel at home. Also I had some free wifi access coming through the wall from reception so that was a bonus. The only downside is there is a butcher shop next door and they seem to start work very early and were quite noisy. The location is really good just a short walk from the town centre and plenty of small corner shops nearby for sundry items. The hotel can organise trips to the salt mine and Auschwitz.

Room Tip: The room on the ground floor is perfect accommodation. It has a very discreet entrance.

I booked these apartments on the back of the reviews on trip adviser and we were not disappointed. There were clean, with good amenities, fully equipt for a self catering break if that's what you want. The location was great, very clost to the square but far enough from the madness and noise. We would use these apartments again next time we are in Krakow.

Highly recommended. The quality of the apartment, location, staff, esp. for the price, is impressive. Breakfast at the nearby restaurant is good too, buffet style, and you even have good croissants! Absolutely nothing negative to say. I'll return.

It was a great location, about 5-10 minute walk to the old town. Very reasonable taxi fare from the airport to the apartment. Shops located near by so made it very easy to get supplies. Great room and we had a little balcony, the building itself was very old fashioned huge wooden doors and a big court yard, giving the feeling of an old Polish house. Room was very clean as was the bathroom. The beds are probably the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in throughout my travels. Having a kitchen made it so much better for breakfast if you did not want to sample the cold meat traditional polish breakfast. I enjoyed the independence of staying here. However the staff were very helpful on reception offering directions where they could and happy to book taxis or buses for day trips or to the airport on your request. It was also very helpful that they booked tour spots for you as well it meant you were happy in the knowledge that you were definately going to make the bus and make the tour on time! For example; I would definately reccommend the salt mines for anyone visiting, it is a once in a lifetime experience! If I were going back to Krakow I would most definately book with the ventus rosa apartments again. I honestly dont have a bad word to say about my stay with them. It was a wonderful holiday made better by these great apartments!!

Room Tip: It has no lift, although there r only three floors there is two staircases per floor, so if you stru...
