“A very Polished effort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

We spent two nights at the Hotel Kossak as part of a whirlwind European tour and found it to be a luxurious, indulgent experience. The beds in particular are very comfy, the carpet nice and soft, and the bathroom well appointed and equipped with the kind of soaps and lotions you'd normally only receive as Christmas gifts. The spacious room had all the expected mod-cons including free wi-fi and a diverse mini-bar (albeit with 4-star prices). The breakfast buffet was superb, with the full range of continental, English and Polish options included.

Though our experience was overwhelmingly positive, it was not without its downside. For instance, the rooftop terrace is a wonderful place to spend a summer evening but we didn't get much chance to enjoy it - on the first night we had just gotten started on our cocktails when we were asked to cede our table at the balcony's edge to a large party who wanted to join it to their ensemble; on the second night the entire terrace was closed to hotel guests because of a wedding. On a separate note, an ill-fitting plug meant that a romantic bath for two was cut short! Of course, these are minor criticisms and most likely won't apply to the vast majority of guests (unless the terrace is frequently taken for private functions), but given the cost of staying at the Hotel Kossak it makes the difference between four stars and five.

Dear Mandy,

Thank you for for taking the time to post your feedback. It is always encouraging for the team to know that their efforts are recognised when guests such as yourself take a few moments to give us your thoughts.
It's true that only suites have balcony in our hotel but we also have standard rooms without balcony but with equally beautiful views of the river and the castle.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel on your next visit to Cracow.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of July 2011 and found it excellent. Very well located and perfect position for tours as the bus stop pickups are moments away. The hotel itself is extremely clean, the rooms are spacious, the bathrooms facilities were excellent and had a great castle view. The staff are polite and very helpful. Breakfast is amazing, you couldn't ask for more. Nothing to complain about, very rare I'll say this but it was perfect.

I stayed at this hotel at the end of July 2011 and found it a delightful place. It is located very close to Wawel Hill and within walking distance from the Old Town (a pleasant 15-minutej stroll). The location is great for exploring both the historical center and the fun district Kazimierz. The hotel itself is very clean, the rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are excellent. The staff is polite and helpful. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious. Nothing to complain about.

Staying over 100 nights in hotels every year it is for me a pleasure to recommend Hotel Kossak. Great location, clean and nice rooms with comfortable beds. The best is the staff. They are really there for you and this gives you that great feeling of being a guest which is so important when you are away from home.

We only stayed in the Hotel Kossak for two nights during a short trip to Poland to visit Auschwitz. We arrived at about 9pm on the Saturday night and found the staff very polite and the hotel clean and modern. We were happy to eat dinner in the hotel where we had a lovely meal at very reasonable prices - and they even included a free starter! The hotel has two restaurants, one on the top floor which is where we ate dinner and which would have had excellent views of the city if it hadn't been so cloudy and snowy. The other restaurant is on the ground floor and that is where breakfast was served - between 7am and 10am (although we were leaving at 7:30 on the second morning and ended up slightly rushed because they weren't quite ready at 7). The buffet breakfast was good, there was continental, hot European, excellent pastries and cakes, cereal, hot drinks and fruit juice. They would also make omelettes and boiled eggs to order, although i'm not sure if that cost extra. There was also a separate bar area on the ground floor of the hotel which was very nice although rather empty. The room was nice, small but perfectly formed, although it looked out onto another building. The bathroom was lovely (with complimentary moisturiser), no bath but a shower big enough for two. The tv was good, although there weren't many english speaking channels. It was just a short walk into the centre of krakow where we found what we thought was a Christmas market, a great cafe serving the most amazing hot chocolate I've ever had and yes an Irish pub. We planned our trip with escape2poland: they provided us with the airport transfers, hotel, transport to and tour of Auschwitz but we booked the flights separately. We were very pleased with the transport which was a brand new Mercedes minibus, on which we watched an information DVD on the way to Auschwitz with three other couples. The tour guide at Auschwitz was excellent and the tour itself very moving. We felt that booking with the tour group took a lot of stress out of the trip and the prices were also very reasonable. We would definitely recommend both escape2poland and the Hotel Kossak.
