“Grand vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

Stayed here for three nights at the end of June 2012 and this hotel is very good. Before this trip I had stayed in next door's Sheraton at 2011.

Sheraton was surely more trendy place but I would still recommend Grand Sofitel to everyone. This hotel has been there for a long time and in it's lobby bar you can see all the celebrities that have stayed there over the years. Like I said it is an old building and the decoration is a bit dull but hotel overall is still an great experience.

Location of this hotel is perfect and it has own private beach and beach bar. It surely is a nice place to spend a sunny afternoon and get some sunrays. You get sunbeds and towels without any extra cost and also the spa is free of charge. It was so nice weather that I did not even peeked inside the spa so can't tell anything about that.

Rooms are small but the bathroom is huge. Our room costed around 100 euros and rooms are nothing special but overall nice rooms with everything you need.

Breakfast was good but expensive, 90 slots which is around 22 euros. It was good breakfast but not excellent so in my opinion it is not worth the cost. Other hotels have also good quite breakfast but in half price. The drink are also expensive inside the hotel but for some reason they are a lot cheaper at the beach bar..! A small beer costs 18 slots inside and at the beach bar a large beer costs only 10 slots, so go figure..?

Hotel staff was overall friendly and helpful so this is a great place to have an great vacation!

Room Tip: It costs some more to get an sea view bu the park view was also nice.

The Grand Hotel is certainly that, in all aspects. This is a terrific place with gardens for lunch, beach facilities, great location and a great bed. My 1st floor room had 15 ft ceiling or maybe higher. Tall windows with a full balcony facing the park; no access to balcony though, but I suppose maintenance could walk there. Bathroom had another window which adds much light and dual shower head options. The amenities by L’Occitane are my favorite and the bath robe is awesome. It is truly a luxury property.
I did not eat there but only had coffee in the gardens. The room coffee service is top quality Nespresso single serve. Expresso was fantastic and frothy and plentiful qty of servings.
The staff is top notch and especially friendly at the front desk. They gave me help on train info, and generally all smiles and greetings. This was during the Euro championships with many officials at the hotel, a high amount of security and busy atmosphere.
Naturally, the building is historic, impressive and the park next door is another aspect of the attractiveness of the Sopot area.
On the fun side, the fitness center is fantastic. Sauna and pool are quite good though not enormous in size and not too small.

Stayed here for the european championships , not many irish fans staying in this hotel due to its price but as we saved money in poznan we decided to splash out , ( it was only 3o euro more than a hostel) so we felt the price for this 5 star was fairly resonable , the rooms were nice but some are much better than others and some rooms are quite dissapointing while others are outstanding .... Locatiom cant get any better , on the beach next to the square and near the train station , great facilities too with the spa and gym , and also while we were there we met a lot of the irish squad which was great as fans because we felt like part of the team .... I will definatly be returning to this hotel once i can request a nice room and not one of the older smellier ones , also the pier is well worh the 7 zloty (1.80 ish in euro) , sopot seems a nice place for a weekend if the sun is shining !

The positives:
- Awesome location, right on the beach, near the promenade and main strip.
- Friendly and helpful staff, a can-do attitude, fast service
- great buffet breakfast with nice marinated fish selection (specialty of the region)
- very nice view from the window
- nice balcony though a bit small

The negatives:
- room a bit small (but there again I found most rooms in Europe small compared to the US, so this one was actually good compared to other European rooms)
- mattress was a bit too soft for my liking

Would definitely stay there again!

Over the last 18 months I have stayed at the Sopot Sofitel for more than 60 nights.
Manager Patrick Carabin and his staff have always made me feel very welcome, it is almost a home from home.
The rooms are outstandingly well presented and the bed is to die for. If you really want one you can buy the same bed for around €5000! The bathrooms are luxurious to the point wear bathing is an absolute pleasure.
The hotel also boasts a spa and fitness suite with a small pool. Arthritis prohibits my activity in the fitness suite but the pool is comfortable and often very quiet.
At the rear of the hotel is the private beach and garden. This is perfect for a short stroll to build an appetite before dinner in the outstanding restaurant. The restaurant staff are always professional and attentive, with some of the finest fish served each evening.
My use of this hotel is always for business and it is perfectly located to travel to either Gdansk or Gdynia, both places where I have business activity in Poland.
Breakfast has a vast range of food on offer. One can choose French pastries - croissants, pains au raisin etc. - which are generally expected in a French hotel chain! Alternatively there is a selection of cold meats, fish and cheese. Fresh breads, cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruits, or cooked bacon and eggs. I rarely take lunch after a Sofitel breakfast!
I am not able to find any fault with this hotel and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: If you're not bothered about a sea view (I have never felt them to be a benefit unless you want...

We spent our last night in Poland here. We stayed in a Deluxe room without the sea view. Yes, you could see the sea from our little balcony but we couldn't see the extra cost for just a one night stay. The hotel is of the high standards and definitely a five star. We did laugh a bit though. The floor in the hallway leading to our room was VERY squeaky. We live in an antique house so we are used to 'squeaky' floors. The floors in our room were NOT squeaky.
While our room was not huge, the bathroom was. Double sinks, separate rain shower and nice but rather small soaking tub. There was plenty of empty space behind the tub area SO they could have put in a larger tub without any space/design issues. The bed was very comfortable and my husband easily got more pillow from the cleaning staff. The wired Internet (no wireless) worked very well. There was wireless in the public areas but my iPad stayed in my laptop case.
We loved the location in Sopot. You can walk out on the Molo (pier) or down the great seaside walk that extends 11 km to Gdansk. The main pedestrian only Monte Cassino Heroes Street is very close by.
I think the best part of delightful stay we had was eating dinner in the restaurant. We got to watch the sunset from our sea view table. The food was outstanding and my husband's sea bass was the BEST fish we had in all of stay in Poland. We decided not to get dessert but the desserts we saw going to other tables looked very good. Yes, the food was expensive by Polish standards but very reasonable by global standards for the quality.
We would definitely return to this hotel and it must be lovely in the summer when the weather is nicer/warmer than during our stay. The private beach area looked like something that would be great to take advantage of as was the spa that we walked through returning from a walk in the garden.

Room Tip: Breakfast is very expensive. We decided to eat at one of the many cafes that are a short distance f...
