Cafe 87 is a spacious and bright non-smoking cafe in the same building as Olomouc's Modern Art Museum at Denisova 47.
Popular with students from the nearby fine art, philosophy and theology departments of the university, Cafe 87 is best known among foreign travellers for its outstanding chocolate pie. There are several chocolate cakes and slices on offer, but the famous one is the wedge-shaped ganache.
Cafe 87 opens early and serves breakfast until 1pm. Ham and eggs, scrambled eggs and toasted sandwiches go for less then 2 Euros and the menu is in English as well as Czech. There are also baguettes, quiches and pasta salads to tempt anyone with an appetite for something savoury and the prices are as reasonable as those on the breakfast menu.
The coffee is good, the staff are pleasant (and many of them speak English) and Cafe 87 is the place most likely to be open if your visit happens to coincide with a public holiday. Highly recommended.
